***OFFICIAL OHIO STATE AT MINNESOTA IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

12-27 on free throws fucking fire him tonight
The crazy part is that the worst of the shooting was by our "good" free throw shooters- Mitchell, Patterson and Garcia 3-12 on FTs. We will do ANYTHING to lose.

If we didn't suck that'd be a brutal way to lose. Best game we played this season. Gotta think any shot at making the B1G tournament is pretty much done.

Can we put a for sale by owner sign in AD Mark Coyle's place??? I would volunteer to help him move. Only half kidding. Well kidding, but still tired of this AD sitting on his hand's. Press conference should already be called after tonight.

It was a little shocking to see Femi pop off the bench in overtime after we had played all of those minutes with Betts. Did Ben forget he had him available?

We can possibly finish ahead of Washington. But anything better than 17th isn't realistic. That's where we are. Ski U Mah.

As bone-headed of a play as Betts made by fouling intentionally up 2, I guarantee that neither the head coach nor any of the assistant coaches (and there are numerous) made sure to remind the players on the floor what they were doing if we missed the 2nd free throw. No one was playing defense.

Yeah, Washington will probably have to lose the rest of their games because if we beat them, we're likely finishing with 1 win.

I'd say we'll beat someone else when Garcia goes off for 35. But he seems 100% checked out and I doubt that will get any better.

The D up 2 at end of regulation was quite brutal…not sure what that was. Besides the Gophers blowing it from the line, the officiating was pretty awful as well…both OOBs balls - equal in occurrence - went in favor of the richer team. The obvious travel went uncalled. lots of questionable calls, all but a few going in the favor of richie rich over the home team. And yet, up two with 6 seconds left our best Ft shooter was on the line shooting 2. And hit none, before an intentional foul to put richie rich on the line.

Are you not entertained?!

I thought the same thing. Betts can't see the floor for more than thirty seconds at a time but then throw him in during overtime when Femi was clearly available? His rotations this year are just bizarre.

Let's not forget that the only thing that put Betts in position to do something that dumb was our shooting guard Mike Mitchell missing two free throws. The whole thing should never have happened. There is a disease like, losing mentality to this coach and team.

Great game by Asuma and Fox tonight though. Partial credit to Patterson, who did make some circus shots at the end to keep it close enough to beat the spread.

Garcia has great ability and no passion for the game. I just don't think he cares much. I saw this attitude a few years ago but he seemed to be engaged again last year. Now this.

I sincerely don't understand why they don't just have out of bounds balls that are not clear as jump balls. The reviews take so much time, kill excitement and are basically coin flips anyway. If the refs aren't 100%, it's a jump ball. Period.

Just want a different basketball coach. I would take the Anoka Ramsey community coach, even there Women's basketball coach, at this point to move on from Ben Johnson.

Anoka Ramsey’s coach is one time Gopher commit Khalid El-Amin!

Go Gophers!!

If only Russ Archambau hadn't punched him out. And then he tattled about getting help with his menstrual term paper. Has there been a player who did more damage to a program?

Fifty four years of Gopher basketball…I suppose the Betts’ foul rivals the Burleson backwards pass against Illinois in 2002 for sheer foible. The latter was far more consequential costing us a NCAA berth. I’m hoping this defeat somehow appeases the basketball gods in a lost season so the fates don’t conspire against us in the better years to come. Congratulations to the team for a gutty effort—job number one for the next coach is recruiting Isaac Asuma.

That game was just the dangdest thing.

That was an embarrassment to and humiliation of this entire institution of higher learning and all its students, faculty, staff, and alumni. Seriously, it reflects on the U and everyone associated with it that they have employed this unqualified and overmatched pretender for nearly four years thinking it's going to turn around any moment now.

There are absolutely no consistent roles on this team.
That's a big part of it. My son's HS team had 15 players that saw time last year, with no consistency of time/roles. They went 12-16. New coach this year is playing 9 this year with clear roles and they're 10-1. Organizations need good structure/roles, etc. He's not a good leader and/or doesn't have a firm grasp of who he's leading. Both aren't good.

3 years in the program now. If Betts is part of what we have to look forward to next year won’t be better.

I agree 100%.
I believe he subs, not for rotational purposes, but only for resting players. I truly believe he doesn't put players on the floor to see if something works better. Edmonds and Garcia doesn't seem to fit when I see them on the floor together.

Yeah, I don't think he or anyone knew what they were doing, if you watch the OSU player if Betts doesn't foul likely has an easy way to the basket or is stopping and popping the game winning 3PT attempt. Can you imaging if OSU goes down and hits a game winning 3 PT after the missed FTs? Difference is OSU player actually made his 2 FT attempts to tie the game after we missed ours to WIN the game.
