***OFFICIAL NORTHWESTERN AT MINNESOTA IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

Looks like it is a career record. Had 13 once previously.

Missed watching the freakin' game. Their last win, I stopped watching at halftime because I'm superstitious. This one I accidentally missed and spotted they were ahead, so declined tuning in.
Well, we know who to blame for the losses................

I had something else going on this afternoon, so I DVR'd the game and will watch it tonight.

But, just based on comments and the box score, couple of things stand out.

Better shooting % and more assists. Those often go hand in hand. When you're getting good ball movement and making good passes, people get the ball in better position to make shots.

and - the Gophers answered every challenge by NW with a run of their own. That, to me, is very important. shows the team had some fight and was able to make in-game corrections.

So, the mood is certainly more positive.

No idea how long Willis is out, but I don't want him back until he is 100%.

4 games to go.

I'd love to see the Gophs beat WI, but that is a team that the Gophs never seem to match up well against. We'll see what happens.

You know what to do.

You’ll be missed, but we appreciate your sacrifice.

15 turnovers?!
Good thing they shot well in this one.
I'm seriously glad that you brought this up. While watching the game, I hadn't noticed the TOs. It's amazing how you can overlook TOs when we look good in other phases of the game and get the W!

I think this really highlights how complex the game is. It seems simple but there are so many little nuances that can determine whether one team wins or loses. Ball movement, favorable match ups, player health... the list goes on and on.

I guess that why we should always roll the ball out on the court and see what happens during an actual game rather than just look at the stats and name a winner.

Fun game to watch. I would assume relieved a lot of the stress on everyone the past few weeks. Still wild to me that I would argue our two best games were the games we were missing our best players. Well done team!

Forgot to add, I think these big fun games mean more at home simply for recruiting. I'm annoyed losing at Nebraska but there are no recruits there to see that, they show up at the barn, we smack a team and the crowd is into it can only help.

A) Second worse loss suffered by NW this year. The other was a 20 point loss at Purdue.
B) I gave a lot of shit to Loewe for being a poor shooter earlier in the year. Dude flipped a switch when Battle was out for the Rutgers game. Have to wonder if his passive mentality earlier in the season shook his confidence. Because Loewe isn't looking like the pass first player we saw earlier. Confidence through the roof.....and it's showing up in the box score.

I hear ya, took an afternoon nap and woke up with 13 minutes to go and saw they were up big

Nice bounceback win. Loewe was pretty lights out today. Gophs even seemed to get some good offensive rebounds.

My wife would disagree with you as she asked, "Why are you swearing so much when they're winning?"

I get it, we don’t have much depth. I get it, we have a new roster and system. I get it, we are running out of gas.

You know what, I don’t give a F about any of that. I want to beat Northwestern and there’s no excuse if we don’t.

GET ‘ER DONE JOHNSON!!!!!!!!!!!
Great post Stan.

OK, went back and watched the game.

And I have this thought.

I really liked the way the offense looked with Loewe essentially taking the lead-guard role.

So, what if, when Willis is healthy, the Gophers keep Loewe as the lead guard and let Willis play some SG. Free him of some ball-handling duties and maybe set him up to get some better looks at the basket. could turn out to be a win-win situation.

Might also mess with the other teams' scouting reports.

Dude, u got to stop that superstitious shit. Watch the game and enjoy yourself.

Went to the game today with my son and brother-in-law. Had a blast! I think I had been 0 for my last two games at the barn. It was nice to get off the schneid.
