Because all the haters have nothing to hateNo idea why fewer people would be interested in the game following the Penn state thrashing. Almost like interest in the team is waning the more they lose?

I'm only wondering why this thread of the thrashing of N'western continues to have less posts than the thrashing by Penn State? Where are all of the accolades? Shouldn't it be a wash?
It has been a pattern over the entire year. Negative posters crawl out of the woodwork after a loss but are conspicuously absent following a win. Sadly many of the negative posters have nothing constructive to say or no solutions to consider. Whining that this or that player is not a B1G quality player in the middle of the season offers nothing as the roster has been set for several months. No idea why fewer people would be interested in the game following the Penn state thrashing. I get where you are coming from and share your frustrations...but this concept is not unique to this forum by any stretch of the imagination. It has been a pattern over the entire year. I always ask my employees to always bring a solution to the table rather than just bringing in their problems. I am not here to fix their problems. I am here to help solve them as part of the team. The belly-aching here about this player or that player gets old because there are no options to bring in players midseason in college sports.
I know this of course... that's why I used my little sarcastic emoji! Social media including internet discussion boards offers people a unique opportunity to spout off without consequence. People love the anonymity of the digital communication world.I suspect you already know this, but --
the negative voices always seem to be the loudest on almost any issue. Good news gets mentioned, but bad news gets shouted to the heavens.
or, to put it another way, it's more fun to complain than it is to praise. Look at the on-line comments after any story in the Strib - the vast majority are negative.
and, with Gopher basketball, there is an added element. There are people who were upset when Johnson was hired as HC because they wanted a big name, or because they thought Johnson wasn't qualified. Some of those people have spent the entire season complaining and criticizing as a way of saying, "see, I was right - Johnson was the wrong choice." If the Gophers fail, in their eyes, it proves their point.
and then, some people are just trolls.
This team doesn’t have a lot of hatersBecause all the haters have nothing to hate
Well sorry I don’t have a solution to the current roster being bad at big ten basketball. My badIt has been a pattern over the entire year. Prepare yourself for the Bentino noon kfan interview. It’ll be 80% complimenting the Badgers players and staff.
Interesting that you are responding since I didn't mention any names. You’re not our supervisor.
And everyone on here is a spectator, so we spectate.
Lighten up man.Interesting that you are responding since I didn't mention any names.
My point is that the number of total comments in a thread is MUCH higher in a loss versus a win. My point is that I would expect there to be equal number of comments following a win. Where are all of the posts about how happy people are about the fantastic shooting by Loewe and rebounding in this thread.Well, duh. Why would there be a lot of negativity after a win? Maybe the majority of posters are both negative and positive and they are mostly positive after wins.
Try to keep this old joke in mind:
A couple had a boy named Timmy. Timmy never said a word for the first seven years of his life. One morning after taking a big bite of food from his plate and spitting it out he screamed: "Yuck, this is terrible!"
His astonished father cried: "Timmy, you can talk! Why have you never said anything before?"
Timmy answered: "Everything was all right up to now."
Ironic because that is exactly what I have been preaching. People need to take a step back from the ledge after a loss and try to see that their complaints CANNOT be addressed this year.Lighten up man.
I understand where your coming from and have seen and quietly appreciated some of the reasonable exchanges that you’ve had in this (or maybe other?) thread recently. Ultimately, though, I don’t think anyone on a message board should expect others to share positivity. The internet sucks, most use it to complain. cjb’s parable is a good one. If the gophers win, I happily say goodnight to my wife. If they lose, I vent what I saw on gopherhole so I can happily say goodnight to my wife. In between games, I’ll share my current observations on the past, present, and future. In your response to cjb, you say in regards to the gopher hole, “The same crap game after game... it's like watching a washed up comic using the same tired joke year gig after gig.” Unfortunately the recent past, present, and near term future of the gophers program happens to mimic your opinion of the board. A lot of us share this opinion.Ironic because that is exactly what I have been preaching. So why talk about the roster if it is bad and can't be changed mid season? We all know that we need to recruit better players to avoid a repeat of this year. Why do we need to rehash it again and again and again?Well sorry I don’t have a solution to the current roster being bad at big ten basketball. My bad
I appreciate your well reasoned response. I just don't think that this year can be used for comparative purposes since it is so out of the norm. I see little correlation to the past because the only common denominators from last year is a undersized center who came out of retirement and an injured bench player.I understand where your coming from and have seen and quietly appreciated some of the reasonable exchanges that you’ve had in this (or maybe other?) thread recently.
