***OFFICIAL MINNESOTA VS WICHITA ST ESPN EVENTS INVITATIONAL SEMI-FINALS IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

Geez. Just total incompetence at the end of regulation and overtime. If we all know to foul up 3, why doesn't this staff? Brutal way to lose.

Some coaches don't foul in that situation some do....and extending the game with our crap free throw shooting is risky. But the opportunity to foul was there with about 4 seconds left and they should have.

I suppose the game tomorrow will now be at the same time as the football game?

No clue what he was thinking there....experienced player like Mitchell should know better than to commit a foul like that in that situation.
Do all the work to make that comeback and then you lose on that. Ultimately yeah it’s on ben for these are the players he recruited, but ffs that’s just an awful mental mistake by an upperclassman

Post game show saying what a bad choice it was not to foul in regulation. Crean showing why he isn’t coaching anymore by saying you shouldn’t.

He plays with a lot of passion but that leads to moving screens and fouls. Needs to tone it down a notch

Just a terrible coaching job by Ben with a 4 point lead. They had a possession with a minute to go where you have to get Garcia the ball at the free throw line area and force Wichita to double him - leaving someone free. If they don't Garcia shoots or drives. Then the no foul on the last possession. Then the foul in overtime. These are guys that have played 4 years and you still cannot put them in the right position?

The ones that don't are dumb. There's so much more that needs to go correct to tie the game.

Could that last shot have hit the rim more times?? Complete collapses by both teams made that an enjoyable finish.

And the announcers keep giving him the "it's a new team" excuse. Every team in college basketball is a new team. The veteran presence of these guys was supposed to be the selling point.

Torvik has this as a 69-68 game for WSU, so, it’s a coin toss. This is a good opportunity to land on the right side of that coin.
Shoulda called heads.

End-game theatrics aside, they did a good job of keeping WSU off the FT line (refs let'em play for the most part) and won in a lot of stats like rebounds, blocks, steals, second chance points and even fast break points. What wasn't great was Patterson taking 20 shots and only scoring 14 - with Garcia being bottled up, someone else needed to step up. Patterson tried, but while he ultimately led the team in scoring, it was more bad than good efficiency-wise. They were much better when dishing to a big (poor FT shooting aside). The lesson is no more hero ball.
