***OFFICIAL MINNESOTA VS SOUTH DAKOTA STATE IN-GAME THREAD***

Morris had 5 points...2 assists.. and 3 TOs. Horrific for a Senior

For what it's worth, Ryan James mentioned on Twitter that Buggs made like 6 mistakes in a row before Pitino sat him down. I only saw the second half, and I don't believe Buggs was ever in the game...so I'd imagine Ryan was pretty accurate in his view of Buggs play.
Buggs was deservedly benched during the 1st half. His effort was awful on both ends of the floor and he was probably lucky Pitino left him out there as long as he did.

We are going 2-16 in conference. Win over Rutgers at home and one other fluke. This is a very sad state of Gopher basketball. Not only because of the product on the floor but because the Barn atmosphere is pathetic. The barnyard is as quiet as church mice. The seats are empty. The fans aren't into the game from the beginning.

I know there is talent in the pipeline, but this is sad. It's really sad.

You know you've reached rock bottom when the students are buying tickets to get the free giveaway sweatshirt and then walking right out the exit door with their sweatshirt in hand.

At what point does Pitino go in full punt mode and only play the under classmen?

Joey provides an offesnive threat but the guy just does not have the effort/ability on the defenisve end. A pretty poor performance today, didn't even have his trademark hustle plays/charges.

Whining about refs when you get blown out by a mid-major (albeit a good one) on your home court is truly pathetic. But, if you don't mind being pathetic, by all means carry on.

The irony is you have posted more than anyone here about this topic.

Every time the ref blows his whistle, half the fans disagree with the call. As someone who has attended thousands of games in his life, I will simply say that I have encountered very few fans who truly understood the rules, and understood the job of a basketball official.

My ultimate fantasy is to make all fans attending a game take a rules test in the lobby. anyone who doesn't get at least half the questions right has to leave.

so, to all sides, stop talking about the officiating. It is the job of the players and coaches to adjust to the officiating. If ref X calls 3-seconds a lot, get your butt out of the lane. If ref Y calls charging fouls every time - don't try a kamikaze drive down the line, then complain when you get called for charging.

When i voiced my concern about joey being our best shooter most people thought i was on something. This is exactly why i was concerned.

Joey King is shooting 54% from the field, 53% from 3, and 92% from the free throw line so far this season. There is nothing wrong with having that guy be your best shooter. Unless you're referring to his struggles to create his own shot on offense, in which case having him be your best shooter still isn't a problem as long as you have a guy who can hit close to 40% from 3 who can also handle and get space between himself and defenders to shoot.

For instance, he would be the best 3 point shooter for Michigan State as well, and that wouldn't pose a problem for Michigan State. Hell he'd probably be shooting even better than he currently is because he would be like their 4th scoring option.

When your 3 co-captains combine for 13 points, you won't win much.

"Hey.... Alabama? Yeah it's Minnesota, say... you want Pitino? He's garbage."

Coach got a free pass for this year, because of the recruits he's landed for next year.In my opinion he has a lot to prove.

My last post on this topic. I understand it isn't easy to be an official. I've been a ref before and it is very hard. I have a great appreciation for what they do. With that said, your statement makes it seem like refs can do no wrong and everyone should just accept bad calls. If fans are able to criticize the players and coaches for bad play, then why can't refs be criticized for bad calls? I don't agree with the mentality that we should just accept it.

I need words of comfort. Someone please convince me we'll improve and be better than Rutgers. This team has a chance to finish 14th. Lack of energy, urgency is even more troubling than the matador defense.

If you made 100 predictions of this non conference season before the year started, do any of them predict we go .500? It's entirely possible at this point.

Sorry my friend, each man for himself.

Who's hosting the Gopherhole therapy session this week? We can just spend an hour in a group hug.

If you're scared, go to church.

Maybe Richard needs another raise so he doesn't waste his time on visits and interviews for better coaching jobs.

Direct quote from my girlfriend-"is there a point that teams are reevaluated and changed from a D1 to a D2 or D3 school? These guys just aren't that good.." Hahaha you can either laugh or cry I guess, had a good laugh at that one

I'm with you - and I'm exhausted from exerting an unbelievable level of self-control with the SD fan behind us. A screechy woman who yelled 'brick' every. Time. We. Shot.
I finally asked her if she knew what Minnesota Nice was, because she was on thin ice.

Disgusting

30 years of bad decisions by the university and poor leadership

Weird, I've only been harping on this on the FB board for a couple of weeks.

As others have said, SDSU is a solid team that will likely win the Summit and end up as a 12 seedish team in the NCAA tournament. I'm not surprised the Gophers lost to SDSU, the USD loss was much worse. I think the young guys will continue to play more and more, grow up a bit, and we'll have better days ahead.
