*** OFFICIAL MINNESOTA-MICHIGAN STATE IN-GAME THREAD ***

There were times during this game that i cringed and in the past, would probably have stopped watching - but what a way to finish a marquee game! Say what you want about Michigan St. having three losses already, but they're a solid team. Looks like the Gophers have finally arrived.

Also: Thank you Tom Izzo for not dragging this out needlessly by fouling incessantly to finish the game - classy.

Time to put aside and criticism or analysis on the game. Just Win Baby. Great way to bring in 2013!

Just looked at the box score. 'Dre Hollins 7-10 from the field?! That's so awesome!

22 pts (7-10 FG ** 7-7 FT)!!!
6 asts
2 blks
3 T.O.'s

great win. Was hoping for a split with these guys. Have we ever won at the Breslin Center?

Great win! Mbakwe made up for his mistakes. Dre is Bobby Jackson #2. Austin is solid. Good teams find a way to win. Go Gophers!

When MSU went on that run in the 2nd half, the Gopher fan in me couldn't help but think "here we go again". Maybe, just maybe, this team is different and can break me of my defeatist tendencies.

I am at 30,000 feet right now, and the $10 I paid to watch the last 3 minutes were well worth it.

What I like is that, IMO, MSU played a pretty decent game. We got a good shot from them, it wasn't like they struggled all that much. But we just looked like the better team for a large portion of the game. Obviously they're tough, they made their run, but in the end, it seemed clear to me that the better team won. We weren't playing over our heads or anything. To be able to say that against a team like MSU, even if they are maybe a little bit down this year is just a great sign going forward since we haven't had that scenario a lot lately.

I think 1997 was the last time we beat them in East Lansing, I don't know when it was that we last officially beat them there though.

Big win today, feels great, go Gophers!!

So happy that I can celebrate the New Year with a huge Gopher victory. I was so angry, and ready to stop watching when MSU had that 5 pt. lead, and our offense looked completely stagnant. I was getting ready for another disappointing loss againt MSU. Glad they proved me wrong! SKI - U - MAH!!!!!

13 oreb of 27 opportunities. The stellar oreb% showed up vs a team with a lot o toughness.

Everybody stepped up big time late, which was huge. But the biggest thing to me was that they fought through a really tough spell midway through the second half and did everything they needed to do in the final five minutes. Very very impressed. Love the way Dre Hollins played the final few minutes.

Overall, extemely happy to say the least!!!:D:clap::clap::clap:

One thing to take away from this game. Andre Hollins can never ever ever foul out. Ever.

You can't put Ahanmisi on the ball against Mich St, Michigan, or Ohio State, he gets eaten up, just isn't quick enough, Welsh is better but you can really see the difference.

I am pretty sure just about everyone watching was thinking the same thing. I was totally frustrated and thought we would slip into the old pattern of letting this one slip away. Awesome final run at the end.

Jeez, Eliason 6 rebounds in 10 minutes. Oto, 3 rebounds and 4 points in 7 minutes. Great job by both.

Gophs only shot 59% from the free throw line............still 39 percentage points higher than MSU

Gophers defensive intensity picked up big-time in the last 5 minutes of the game. We are not very good in the half-court, but Tubby has always been an above average defensive coach and his players really came through at the end of this game on the defensive end.

That 5 minute series of futility in the 2nd half where we couldn't run an inbound play to save our lives was ugly and certainly Tubby will need to address this with the team, but ultimately those kids won a game that was tremendously important. To get over the psychological hurdle of winning their first B1G game of the season immediately is a huge hurdle for these kids to overcome. Good for them.

Just back from game. That was awesome.

The atmosphere was the best it's been in a LONG time.

I'm guessing there's going to be another letter from "Tubby" to the student section in the coming days.

This is why you have to let guy's like Oto play through a slump because he will be a contributor on this team & a main piece of the puzzle next year.

EE changed the complexion of the game in the 1st half. Trevor couldn't stop Nix (guy's a beast) & picked up an early foul. In came EE & Nix couldn't score over his length on 2 or 3 straight possessions, then EE had a huge block on Nix (Think it was Nix anyhow). Nix had to come out of the game. Important minutes by EE.

Was that a F*** Tom Izzo chant I heard on TV? Just want to be sure. I was listening with headphones in a loud area.
