*** OFFICIAL MINNESOTA-MEMPHIS IN-GAME THREAD ***

Thanks, just found the bracket actually. According to the page i'm looking at it says that it's a 7pm game. Not the same time as the football game.

If there's a method to this substitution pattern, it's to keep the top 7 well rested for the second half. It's clear the Tigers were running low on gas with their missed free throws and jump shots in the 2nd half. Meanwhile, the Gophs looked like they still had plenty of juice. But still, is it necessary to have so many reserves on the court at the same time?

Very good neutral site win for our squad. We need another tomorrow. This team has got to stop the unforced TO's. Welch looked pretty good again today handling the ball. Once his shot starts falling like last year, i believe he will get many more minutes at the 3. Coleman continues to turn the ball over way too often.

So impressive that we could withstand that run when Memphis took the lead in the second half. The pessimist in me thought we were screwed at that point, that took some serious balls. AWESOME free throw shooting down the stretch. That's not something we've done particularly well the last few years.

And I don't know what else there is to say about Dre in this game. Dat boy good.

FYI.

NIU = Northern Illinois.

UNI = Northern Iowa.

Nice to get that first win that we can feel pretty safe saying it'll be a quality one at the end of the season. Hoping we get Stanford in the 5th place game. Motivation certainly shouldn't be a problem.

No way in hell do you dare bitch about this today, so in answer to your question? Yes, if it helps us win. Listen, pups, Tubby is no dummy.

Now, what I wonder is this: where the hell is jamalo/tinyarch now? Our half court got so many cheap bunnies and Dre drilled 'em from outside.... Where are you tinyarch, the anti-tubby expert?

I'll be cheering for Duke to win the whole thing now so that it helps us in our search to get in to the top 25.

Memphis fans probably felt a lot like we did yesterday.....

Yesterday for MN fans.....how do you beat a team that shoots 80% from 3pt line?

Today for Memphis.....how do you beat a team when their point guard explodes for 41 points?

I didn't get to watch the game but the radio feed made it sound like he was making tough contested shots too. Had to make it even more frustrating.

Look, Andre saw from the get go that Memphis's plan was to stop us inside with our power game. He said, "Ok, guys, you will pay for this." Dre talked the talk AND walked the walk, and led our pups to a big win over #17 Memphis.

Tubby turned the game over to Dre, and Dre did not disappoint. That is what a true Point Guard does.

Good win, and Congrats Gophers.

For those looking to view the games it was streamed at http://www.vipboxsports.eu, I assume tommorows game will be availble, I had to do a search for the game after acessing that site but it came up.

Wow, the Gopher/Tigers game thread on the Memphis board dwarfs ours...18K views, 900+ posts.

They are calling for Pastner's head!

Go Gophers!!

I am going to check it out. See if they have more info. On Joe Jackson. His absence sure hurt the Tigers. Also, being a local Memphis kid, you have to be wondering on the Memphis board what they thought of Andre.

Bleed, let's face it...Tubby outcoached Pastner today, but Dre was the difference maker, because the Coaches don't play the game. Our guys outplayed Memphis...period.

With this win, it just might be enough to get to the top 25. Gophers whip a Tiger a$$. Mean frikking Gophers...Gotta love 'em.

Beat Stanford and we'll be ranked in at least one of the polls. Beat FSU and we'll keep climbing the ranks. Lose to FSU and we might get knocked out.

Stanford may not beat northern Iowa.

Look, we got dismantled by a very good Duke team. We turned around and dismantled a very good Memphis team.

Tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow....(Google that, sports fans.)

I am still gonna pick the Gophers to win tomorrow.

They are certainly making a game of it. I really don't want to get stuck with northern Iowa. That would be a disappointment for me. Stanford was getting top 25 votes coming in to the tournament. Beating stanford would be another great win for the team. Beating UNI would be... meh.

take top 25 votes away from us. I agree.

Really impressive and efficient game for Dre, he played the way he was playing towards the end of last year and better than he has all season. I think the big guys will continue to improve especially Mbakwe and Mo as the games go on. We are going to need to improve the turnovers, rebounding, and th 3 point shooting. I really think we will continue to get better in all these areas and guys like Austin, Welch, and Oto will start to shoot the ball better making us a more dangerous and consistent 3 point shooting team.

Looks like Stanford is taking care of business in the second half. Good.

Sorry to reply to my own post, but on the radio stream they said the last player to hit 41 points was Ollie Schannon in 1971, so my memory must not be serving me too well.

My memory was the same as yours -- I thought Tucker had 40 against UConn in the NIT. Just looked it up, and he had 35 that night.

My take on the game:

1. Disappointed in the defense at times, especially by the big guys. 16 offensive rebounds is too much.
2. Joe Coleman continues to struggle with the ball. That's now 21 turnovers in six games. His numbers have to be cut if he can't do a better job.
3. Obviously Andre was the star of the game. Hoping this game gets him kick-started for the rest of the season. Still a little careless with the ball at times but it can be excused if he's able to score consistently. The step back three pointer in the second half was a thing of beauty.
4. Even when he isn't hitting his shots, Austin Hollins still is impressive to watch IMO. Six steals for him today. He doesn't turn the ball over very often and he just looks confident with his shot even when they aren't falling.
5. Awesome job on free throws: 28 of 33. We'll win a bunch of games if we shoot 80%+ as a team.

Overall a good win. Let's get another one tomorrow!
