Clearly you didn't watch the game since it was on the Kohl Center floor. 😁

From up 15-5 to down 30 in the same game...As much as I despise this whole era of Gopher Basketball, I wanted that win against Ohio State for the simple fact that I don't want Minnesota to have the worst season in Big Ten history. I'd want the game against Wisconsin no matter the circumstances. We're now 9-36 against Wisconsin since firing Clem Haskins. Tonight wasn't one of them, but it seems like half those losses have come in excruciating fashion. Who remembers Bronson Koening hitting a 35 footer at the Barn? Or Nate Mason getting tripped (and Jordan Murphy missing free throws)? Or in Ben Johnson's tenure we've had Peyton Willis miss free throws and Hawkins get fouled on a potential game winner that went uncalled.

Maybe we should take a page out of the pro sports book and sign Clem to a ceremonial deal this offseason. Right a wrong and get rid of some of this bad karma.
Losing a 10 point lead is nothing shocking in basketball, teams go on runs all the time. But going from deadlocked at halftime to losing by 20+ is something different. Have seen that now in the Purdue and Wisconsin games.

And...we were down 30 until junk time. Whatever Ben does, he should never let Williams on the floor, the kid appears to make shots.

I take it things didn't go well.

there is a possible answer to all of this:

The Gophers are a bad team.

Good teams find ways to win games - bad teams find ways to lose games.

It does not give me any joy to say that. I always hope for the best - but I can't argue with what I see.
which renders the rest of the season moot. until/unless there is a different coach and different players, I don't see anything changing - at least not in a material way. so anything that happens the rest of the season is essentially irrelevant.

it's like a pinball machine - "For Amusement Purposes Only."

(believe it or not, in the old days, you could actually win money playing pinball. it was considered a form of gambling, which is why pinball was banned in New York City from 1940 until 1976.)

You think Dawson is better than Braden Smith? HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAH

My god, I have heard it all.

He's not better than TKR either. But holy sh it.
Yup, that's a whopper.

All those years wasted! 😳

I'm indifferent to whether Johnson is fired soon or at the end of the season. I agree that it likely couldn't hurt the team performance if he were fired now. I don't think a "magical win or two" would make people feel good about the season. Two years ago, the team beat Rutgers near the end of the season and Nebraska in the Big Ten tournament but I don't think that made anyone feel good about the season. I'd certainly like to see a win or two but that only would make me feel better after those games. Granted, something is better than nothing.
Feel good is probably the wrong way to put it.

Maybe more like a Rudy situation. A win being so improbable, you just have to tear up a little bit and feel for them haha.

The Gophers are 15.5 point underdogs tomorrow. I guess Vegas is finally embracing the suck.

Currently 14.5 at Fan Duel. Very tempting. I don't see how this game is under 20.

It sucks that Minnesota doesn't have sports betting still. It's just another way to send money out of state because we don't have that business here.

It'll pass this coming session. Has to.

They said that last session, then the Tribes blocked it. I see no change in status at this point.

The Tribes want it at their casinos. That's what will happen. Mystic will have a sports book by this time next year or soon thereafter.

99% of bets will be taken online. It's all a pissing match over who gets to control it and take their cut.
