***OFFICIAL MINNESOTA AT NEBRASKA IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

After watching in person all of the prior Gopher losses at Pinnacle Bank arena, I had vowed not to go this year as I had grown tired of the same old outcome even when the Gophers were the better team. Then last week happened which further solidified my decision not to go. Then a call came with a free good ticket and at the last minute I decided to go. The first half was as good as it gets for a Gopher fan in Lincoln. Then the start of the second half and I let a little confidence start to creep into my head. The dreaded collapse, I was fighting the urge to leave, everyone thinks Husker football fans are the nicest, but their basketball fans can be dicks as I have experienced. I stuck it out till the end and am thankful for it. No idea what to think of this team and Johnson's weird situation but today was worth the longtime suffering.
Glad you finally got to see a Gopher win in Lincoln.

What a weird year for my Gopher fandom. Lived and, too often, died with the Gophers since watching Sweet Lou Hudson in the 1960's. Was elated when Rigsby hit his shot to beat the Huskers today. Several hours later, I'm kind of down because now I'm fearful that Coyle will be bringing BJ back next year. (Never had these mood swings as a Gopher fan about a victory; and I'm pretty sure it's not male menopause because I'm damn near 80.)

From Ryan James on Twitter:

"In the 130 years of Gopher basketball there have been only a dozen teams that have won five or more league games on the road.

The 2024-25 team is one of those 12."

What the hell even is this team?
A team that can't wait to leave. 🤔😏

There is nothing structurally in this program that has earned more time for the staff. The one player that kept them being an iota above awful is gone and the believed strength of the head coach is relationship building which is practically irrelevant in the modern game. If U leadership doesn’t get that, shame on them.

Mike Mitchell only seven minutes. Coaches decision to go with Rigsby as the hot hand or something else? Did not watch or listen. Not a perfect pattern but team has been much better when I’m not paying attention.
MM has been utterly useless for awhile now, and Ben keeps starting him and playing him big minutes. Turns out other guys can play better sometimes. He must have finally figured that out today.

This.

This coordinated media effort to create a narrative is scary. Is it coming from Coyle? It makes absolutely no sense.

That's true but I think that's just loyalty. He does the same thing with Fox. I think he was grateful that both of those guys returned. Ben has been pairing Fox's minutes for some time. He hasn't played 20 or more minutes since late January.

Patience always pays off!!

I wonder about the assistant coaches on this staff. Are they well regarding or for that matter compensated at a rate top guys on other staffs?

Since we're losing football assistant coaches with some regularity, I'd guess that the answer to the basketball assistant compensation question is "NO."
