***OFFICIAL MINNESOTA AT NEBRASKA IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

Losing out and missing the BTT was probably the only way to ensure he's not back. These miracle wins against USC, UCLA and Nebraska probably subject us to another year of awful basketball. I guess we're not forced to watch it or care.
I’m sure the decision on Ben has already been made no matter what the finale outcome will be.

So is Ben a good coach now that Gophers have won today? They are now 7-10 and they were in the thick in at least 3 more game they loss.

Some real fans here. Many pull for the Gophers to lose so Ben gets fired. They may not say this directly, but their comments tell the story. Pathetic...
Because blowing a double digit lead means he’s a good coach? Lol

You might not be able to bear the answer. I might not be able to either. Obviously according to that Strib article Johnson thinks he is keeping his gig. So...it appears he hasn't been told by Coyle or Coyle's wife that he is on the ropes.
Ya, between Ben himself and his newspaper buddies...I think he's got another year. The revenue angle will play with the unfair to fire him after only four years administration bobos. And, the buyout.

It was a good win but far from a well-coached win. Wtf would you burn your last timeout after a make with what, like 2-3 min left? That should have cost us.

Has there been a big ten game in Johnson’s tenure where we build a high-teen lead and just win comfortably?

You just know how it’s gonna unfold every time, and you pray they can hold on like they did today.

This game is bittersweet as had we taken care of business at home against the door mats, there’d be legit tourney chatter… what’s that like 6 or 7 quad 1 wins?

Nice to get the win. The prospect of having the worst program in the Conference is on the horizon. A change is necessary but less than probable.

Go back to my first post, that is my point.
Is it people cheering for the Gophers to lose? I have over 2000 posts on the football and basketball boards. Find one when I've ever indicated I want the Gophers to lose.

If that's not it, you're going to have to spell it out for me, because I really have no idea what point you're trying to get at

No idea if Ben will be retained or not, but his coaching staff does a pretty darn good job of working with the talent they get into the building. 7-11 is a very respectable record for this outfit. Can Ben recruit and retain quality players over multiple years? If he could, I think he's now learned enough on the job to be an above average coach in the B1G. Pulling for the guy, personally.

Don’t start 😡

OK....Gophers win and I'm happy, but I'm still gonna bitch:
REFS:
1. One foul called against Nebraska the whole first half (can't remember ever seeing that in a D1 basketball game.
2. Nebraska comes out ultra aggressive on D to start second half, slapping, grabbing and holding. Gophers still never manage to even get into the bonus in the 2nd half.
3. 20-5 difference in FT's???? C'mon
4. The 10 second call should be investigated. Plain and simple. It looks and smells bad. Clocked it with my own timer and 8 seconds ran off (generously) from the time the ball was touched on the inbounds.

ANNOUNCERS and TELECAST:
There was clearly a theme in today's game and that was Nebraska being being projected a 10 seed in the NCAA tourney. This bled into the broadcast. It felt like it was produced by Nebraska. Was there ever a replay done on huge calls that went against the Gophers?? Garcia's fourth foul where he's tangled up with Morgan (and Garcia clearly thought the call was against NU).....could we see a replay? The 10 second violation? Could we see a replay? Did they even talk about it?? Biggest play of the game, and they glossed over it like it was 2 minutes into the game? I might be a homer, but it was ridiculously one-sided telecast. F

COACHING:
I'm an equal opportunity complainer. Gophers won but it surely wasn't because of coaching. They've won 2 road games this year because Rigsby has had out of body experiences. That's either luck or coaching malpractice that he hasn't gotten more minutes this season with many of Mitchell's struggles. As for today's game, there were so many mistakes for a not new coach I was screaming at the television. You know Nebraska was going to press the second half. We literally went 4 possessions in a row not being able to inbound the ball. Two passes knocked out of bounds, one foul called and one turnover. How is that possible? Took CBJ forever in the second half to get Rigsby back in the game for Mitchell, who might as well have stayed in the locker room. Rigsby hit a three with 2 1/2 minutes left in the game and CBJ takes his last timeout??? Why? Offense for defense for Garcia? Ridiculous. Garcia hardly saw the floor after that due to this stupid move, including not being on the floor on the last play. You knew the Gophers were going to need that timeout....which would have made the 10 second call moot.

Rant over.

The last part was spot on except I think Garcia got hurt. Ben was very lucky because that was a horrid show of coaching. We survived solely because we shot very, very well and Nebraska did not. They got 14 extra shots and still lost. Rigsby scoring 20 in 23 minutes is insane.

I sure hope Garcia is ok. You could see Ben talking to Garcia the one time out to see if he could finish out the game. Obviously, he was not able to finish due to his injury.
If this is true, than I am wrong. I thought Garcia was trying to check in but there was no stoppages in play so he was unable to.
