Awesome win. Never thought we'd even get to 5 B1G wins, and I think we have a good shot at 7 or 8.
I thought it was fair. I couldn’t point out a play where they really changed the game. I think USC fans will call the swipe on Claude where he fumbled the ball out of bounds but I didn’t see an arm take. Were the refs good or bad today?
The one that got away according to someMuss not looking so exalted right now. Just another short guy.![]()
Johnson was calling for timeout after a made basket, and the officials awarded it to him after the ball was inbounded.Tweet from USC suggests an inadvertent whistle near the end of the game was crucial and went Gophers way. I didn’t see the game. Someone explain that to me. Thanks in advance.

Bad call? Was SC moving?Johnson was calling for timeout after a made basket, and the officials awarded it to him after the ball was inbounded.
No one said anything about the MM swipe at Claude before the TO?Tweet from USC suggests an inadvertent whistle near the end of the game was crucial and went Gophers way. I didn’t see the game. Someone explain that to me. Thanks in advance.
But they showed on video that he was clearly trying to call the timeout before the ball was inbounded however the official close to him wasn't paying attention so it ended up looking like he called timeout after the ball was inbounded.Johnson was calling for timeout after a made basket, and the officials awarded it to him after the ball was inbounded.

Shockiingly that did not come in the SC feed.No one said anything about the MM swipe at Claude before the TO?
It looked like he started calling for it right after the basket, so it seemed right to me ¯\_(ツ)_/¯Bad call? Was SC moving?
I agree, the optics were bad though since USC was in possession when the whistle blewBut they showed on video that he was clearly trying to call the timeout before the ball was inbounded however the official close to him wasn't paying attention so it ended up looking like he called timeout after the ball was inbounded.
Of course it did!It looked like he started calling for it right after the basketball, so it seemed right to me ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Him having 4 fouls really hindered him and USC. Their offense went stagnant and we didn't quit. They're a better team but we wanted it more. Patterson and Frank were the reason we won. Both of their best games and we needed it considering Dawson only scored 7Claude didn't play much as he had lots of fouls.
Sometimes you catch a break and the refs don't see it. Earlier in the game Frank was clearly fouled on a layup attempt and it was missed.....it happens all the time.No one said anything about the MM swipe at Claude before the TO?
Nope. He has a strong track record. (Even though I saw him completely blow up a pick up game at whatever Lifetime was called back then underneath Target Center when his dad was the wolves coach. He went crazy out of control over a stupid phantom foul. If you'd seen it, you wouldn't forget it either. I assume he's grown--a lot.)Dodged a bullet by not hiring Muss
I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last nightOf course it did!![]()
Thought he was the key player at the end that was reviewed where they called USC ball initially then after review Gooher ball. Mitchell swiped at it. Then a second after Claude lost the handle. Garcia had excellent DClaude didn't play much as he had lots of fouls.
It looked especially bad because Johnson was out on the court as well. It wasn't till they showed the other angle that you could clearly see him trying to get the timeout well before the ball was put back in play.I agree, the optics were bad though since USC was in possession when the whistle blew
Yes....no....maybe....who the hell knows?.....does it matter?Do the Gophers win this game with Hawkins and Payne instead of Patterson and F Mitchell?
It doesn't matter, just a question. The narrative has been how much better we'd be if we'd kept them. Overall we'd have won 2-3 more before today, but not sure they win this one.Yes....no....maybe....who the hell knows?.....does it matter?
Muss certainly has a strong track record overall, can obtain top talent, is a great interview and likely a bomb fundraising personality. I'd have loved (and would still love) to have him here.Nope. I don't think there is much doubt that this would have been a better team overall if you swapped Hawkins/Payne for Patterson/F. Mitchell all season. Probably not drastically better but better. It doesn't matter, just a question. The narrative has been how much better we'd be if we'd kept them. Odd sequence but in the end they did get the call right as we should have been awarded the timeout there if we wanted to use one. Certainly didn't cost USC the game as some of their fans might try and claim.
Claude didn't play much as he had lots of fouls.
Well, he is an old-timerAccording to the ESPN box score, he played 32 minutes. I'd say that's a lot. He wasn't out that long after he got his 4th foul.

To rephrase.....foul trouble limited his effectiveness for much of the game.According to the ESPN box score, he played 32 minutes. I'd say that's a lot. He wasn't out that long after he got his 4th foul.
