***OFFICIAL MINNESOTA AT MICHIGAN STATE IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

Payne’s brilliant FT shooting for the cover

Gophers actually had more free throw attempts then MSU.... MSU won turnover battle 21 to 6 and fast break battle 17-2. Enough said. We only pray our shots fall and that is as good as the Gopher offense is.

You cant have your 3 starting bigs end up with 11 TOs and only 2 assists. Thats without mentioning the fact they also shot 9/26

Pretty remarkable to actually keep it this close. Without the main distributor when the next 3 best players are guys allergic to moving the ball

Cant fault the effort at all

No moral victories.
Perhaps it's just me, but it seems the folks in stripes just pucker up and kiss Izzo's ass at Breslin. That man is the biggest whiner in college basketball. Sure seems hard to win when you are playing 8 on 5.

That being said, to be a good team, you have to win against home cooking. The Gophers are not yet a good team. They are an average team, a common team, but they are not a good team. If the kids stay here at Minnesota, they will win more games than lose, next season, but not this year.

We actually played harder the second half, but we stopped making shots. Mitchell played a little bit selfishly at times forcing shots up. Overall, a pretty good effort, just way too many dumb turnovers.
He has to force up shots when everyone else is either watching him dribble or trying to set a screen for him.

Don't blame the refs for not calling a fair game.....because everyone knows the coach need to get T'd up to get even officiating?
Do you want to send an email to someone complaining after the fact or call them out as the foul count is getting completely out of line. Which one? Gophers current approach is acceptance. Our ranting about what is fair means nothing. Influence needs to happen during the game.

Obvi missed Hawkins presence in this game. Good effort, but way, way too many turnovers. Payne looked lost at times. Good to see Mitchell’s shot back in first half, but I think the ball handling took a toll over the course of the game. Christie got schooled. Carrington played a solid game. Would like to see him shoot more.

All the fouls and early 1:1 hurt, but MSU missed a lot of free throws.

The team was battling despite having a short bench due to injury and foul issues. The last thing the guys need in that position is Johnson getting a technical. At that point in the game.....a lot of the damage was done. Getting a tech would do nothing for the team.

Again....it all comes back to "don't blame the refs". It's nonsense. You can absolutely blame the refs for calling an unbalanced game. The phantom goaltending is all you need to know about how lopsided the game was called. lol......don't blame the refs.

Played hard, but gotta play better down the stretch to win. It was a 2 point game at the under 4. Tough one. Don't let the disappointment bleed over into the Wisconsin game.
Gotta carry that effort into it

2 pt game with 3:32 left and then laid the goose egg. Would have been a big win too.

The guys were winded at the end. We just didn't have enough guard depth with Hawk being out and Christie picking up 5 fouls in 16 minutes of court time. Mitchell was forced into playing the entire game when he's been playing more like 20-25 minutes recently.

lol.....our guards (Christie, Mitchell, and Carrington) had 11 fouls called on them in 82 minutes of court time. Theirs (Akins, Hoggard, Walker, and Holloman) had 3 fouls called on them in 116 minutes.

Ok. Happy to keep going. Did you see Izzo working refs going into half time despite already being in a positive position? And really continually during the game no matter the current score?

What (after the fact) would you like to happen that will impact the outcome? And have you ever seen an impact from complaining after the game is lost?

How many times did our guards drive and attack the rim? How many times did theirs?

Turnovers MSU = 5, Gophers = 19
Pts off Turnovers MUS = 21, Gophers = 6
Fast Break Points MSU = 17, Gophers = Somehow got credit for 2
Points in the paint MSU = 44, Gophers = 12 (Should use Jack more!)

Not going to win too many games with these stats differentials.
