***OFFICIAL MINNESOTA AT IOWA IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

Definitely one of the more impressive wins by Johnson during his tenure. The Gophers definitely controlled the tempo throughout and only looked rattled once or twice. Iowa has never been able to defend anybody but can usually score in high volume. The Gophers made it really tough on them defensively. Bad shooting from Iowa obviously helped too (3-21 from 3pt). I was impressed.

No offense to your daughter but no one arriving from Tucson asks for authentic Mexican in MN. Why? Because it doesn’t exist in MN. Wait, you took her to Chi Chi’s? 😂 Mexican food goes straight downhill as you move across the country west to east.
I don’t usually interfere but it sounds like poster is in Tucson and daughter wanted the real deal Mexican. Not asking for it here. That’s my interpretation anyway.

I’ve connected with a lot of Mexicans and Mexican Americans over the years and many of them won’t eat any Mexican food not prepared by their mothers.

Good win for the Gophers.

You can find solid Mexican here:

Great win last night, that was completely unexpected, which makes it all the more satisfying. Really wish we hadn't given away those games against North Texas, Wichita and OSU. 13-6 I'd have to believe we be in bubble territory at the least.

Either way, I'm glad the team is playing better here, and I'd give us a pretty decent shot to beat Oregon with the way we're playing.

yeah it was the bad shooting from 3pt land that got us this game....and most of them pretty good looks as well!!

and with Iowa's offense, Ben Johnsons offense(if you really call it that) of dribbling around until the shot clock is under 5 seconds and taking as many possessions away from Iowa as they could worked perfectly

good for Frank Mitchell as well

was a fun random winter tuesday night game to watch.......when they screwed up the possession arrow early in the 2nd half i was so ready to watch one of Frans meltdowns!!! we were so close!

A W is a good W especially on the road, so have to give credit. We were just lucky Iowa shot 14% from 3 PT line and 66% from FT. Some of it was good D, but they did have some wide looks that just wouldn't drop. For once it was the other team colder on the shooting.

Even if you flip those results we probably aren't in bubble territory due to the soft non-conf schedule but we would maybe be knocking on the door of being there.

Nice to see the team string together 3 straight solid games starting with the loss in Maryland and followed by the back to back wins. Oregon is a good team but getting them at home definitely ups the chances of springing the upset.

At this point would just love to see this team avoid the bottom 3 and qualify for the Big Ten Tournament. If they keep playing the way they have been of late that feels like a very real possibility.

Sounds Iike I'm in the minority here- but didn't mind that late Mitchell 3.

It came early but was a wide open look from our best 3 point shooter that would've ended the game. Thought it was worth the risk,.
Yes, but when you are currently 2-9 from 3 and 3-13 on the game, trying to kill time, drive the ball and get fouled or work for the best shot. Iowa got a transition 3 on the other end.

As outsized as we are, the rebounding has been phenomenal the last couple games.
Iowa is a good matchup for us in terms of size, but hanging with Michigan on the boards was impressive as they have a significant size advantage over most teams with their dual 7 footers.

Been nice seeing different players step up. Patterson and Mike Mitchell struggled offensively against Iowa but Femi stepped up and provided a rare offensive spark. And as has been discussed, Frank Mitchell had easily one of his best games since he has been here last night. Patterson couldn't get his offensive game going but he did a good job helping control the tempo and keep it from turning into a track meet.

Guys are playing hard and it is fun to see them rewarded with some victories and a little positivity around the program for a change.

I get why he took it, he was wide open and had he made it, it might have been the dagger that ended things. Fortunately those 15 seconds or so that he could have killed didn't end up coming back to bite us. Smart play would have been to hang onto the ball and kill more time but again, I get why he put it up.

Yeah, all we got is Taco Bell out here 🤷‍♂️

Crazy to see the stat ribbon of FT% 37% when guys step to the line, but they made enough last night.
Still not sure how a few of those free throws went in because they were ugly.....but style points don't matter if the shots go in.

Iowa's strategy of hacking Femi and sending him to the line was a sound one in theory but credit to him for finding a way to hit 7-11 and drill some key ones down the stretch to help seal the victory.

when your struggling with your shot that is a bad spot to shoot yourself out of the slump....
but hindsight its easy to judge.....if he makes that we would be touting him for his "killer instinct"

Reading an Iowa board.....and man do they despise McCaffrey. They want him gone yesterday.

That's a fun win.
Alright all you analytic nerds. Any of you have the time to tally up and compare all the Anti-coach posts on the Iowa board as compared to the Minnesota board since the first of the year? Thinking that the coach with the most negative posts should be the first one fired, right? Maybe break it down to categories like "In Game Coaching", "Bad Recruiter", "Can't Build a Team", "Awful Sideline Demeanor", "Player Development". Tally up the number of posts in each, rate them in order of importance and come up with a "First One Fired" prediction.

Just an idea for those who love to do the deep dive into the numbers to find answers. :)
Pretty sure I'm just joking!

No need, too!

Fran needs to go.

Ben needs to go.
