Sadly I just don't think there is at this point. If Turner is in fact hurt as was reported in one of the games then you have Turner, Viahola, Willis, Stephens and Omot all out. So you are down to the very back of the rotation guys like Grizzi and Spencer. You could put them out there but they would but they would basically just be bodies who would bring very little to the game from an offensive standpoint and probably be defensive liabilities.

On top of that, the 7 we have a keeping all the games tight and playing really well together. At this point I think you just grit your teeth and battle through to the end of the season. Keep on developing guys like Grove and Shinholster to be rotation pieces next year. Hopefully get JCJ to the point where he can be consistent night in and night out and keep on giving Asuma chances to improve as a point guard.

Do you suppose an established coach like Niko might know better than us whether just randomly putting somebody out there who obviously hasn't proven in practice that they deserve anything other than a couple of garbage time minutes per game might hurt more than help (or even tread water) the Gophers? Pretty sure that a proven college coach like Niko has, at some or several points during the season, made it very clear during one on one meetings, practice film sessions or sideline conversations during practice exactly what needs to happen for player A, B or C to see any meaningful floor time.

If you mapped specific expectations/goals to your players (or employees, or students in class) and they failed to ever meet those expectations or goals, would you give them a promotion or good grade? I don't think many coaches, managers or bosses hand out rewards for not doing, or at least making significant progress toward the stated and understood goals.

As I mentioned before, I don't think Niko is the type of coach that just throws mud up against the wall out of desperation. My feeling is that he would rather ride with the guys who may be operating at 75%, but doing things the way I want them done, than go with guys who may be fresher, but I don't trust to do things the "Niko way".

Exactly, so (as I said), she was 0-10. Not 0-16 as was mentioned earlier.

Not really. There is likely no Crown or other post-season coming. Give the guys who will be here more playing time. There is no reason for Shinholster to play 0 minutes in the 2nd half when we only have a 7 man rotation.

Sure, but you can decline (as a number of conference teams did last season). If they don't get at least 14 wins (15 would be better) in the regular season, I think they should decline. Spend the time trying to improve next year's team from the transfer portal.

Also, I'm not sure that Washington and Minnesota will be the first two conference teams left out of the NCAA tournament and get the automatic bids. That assumes that the NCAA tournament takes 11 conference teams. They only took 8 last season. It's also possible that the Gophers could fall in the standings.
