Look, they are probably an underdog vs. WI - but given the choice, I would rather see the Gophs at least have a puncher's chance of getting the 6th win and the Axe.

Let me put it this way - if, at 5:51pm next Saturday, the Gophers are running around the field with the Axe - would you really come on this board and state that it would have been better if the gophs had lost to Illinois?
 



Very Adrian Peterson-esque with that run. Very similar to the 4th quarter TD against the raiders last week.

What makes you think Wisconsin is a great team this year. Team will be up for it.
 




Hell of a run by Brooks but why go for 2. Why not force them to choose between a tie and a win?
 

Kill would have played it safe... Claeys has balls, and he will learn more and more about his team. Limegrover on the other hand... Also, is the defense depleted or is Jay Sawvel not up to speed yet or not a good DC? Things to look at in the offseason I guess.
 

I like the call, go for the win. At the worst if we don't get it and Illinois scores, we're probably going to OT.

We would've been up by 8 with an XP. So no choice...just go for 2. But clearly kicking it is still the higher percentage move. I've never seen that, going for 2 up 7.

Shannon brooks is going to be fun to watch for the next 3 years.
 

I think we will be decent at LB next year with Poock, Celestin, and Lynn.

Totally agree. Love the gutsy call. And 'Sconnie will not stomp us. Great win. For those wishing the Gophers would lose, they won. Eat it.
 


I get why some are excited about the call by Claeys but could you imagine had he missed that, Illinois scored a touchdown, went for two and won? I do like a more aggressive coach, especially in college, especially when you don't have the dominant team, but that was boarderline stupidity in my opinion.

Oh well, it worked so who cares, like I said, I do like that he has that mindset, I just hope it continues to work for him.
 

Strange sequences at the end of the game.

Illinois runs a weird play on 3rd and 21 then wastes a ton of time getting lined up for the punt.
Brooks could ice the game by just going down but scores to put the team up 7
As others have said I don't think I have ever seen a coach go for 2 when up 7 but it worked so great call.... :)

Wasn't pretty but nice to get the W. Time to get the Axe!
 

Let's get a three game winning streak going into next season.

LOL. SB27 should have fell down, but TC's choice to go for 2 was more moronic.
