***OFFICIAL GOPHERS VS HAWKEYES GAME THREAD!!!!!!!!***

I just read somewhere that we get an automatic bid to the NIT no matter what because we won the tourney last year so we've got that going for us which is nice.

Not sure if serious, but that's total BS and not true.

This actually cheers me up a little...that is how sad of a state we are in.

Crazy, at one point within the last few years I thought Hollins was a possible first round pick. He is def a shade of his former self. At least next year we should be good at guards!

For how tough it is supposed to be to win on the road in the Big Ten, OSU and Iowa seemed to pull it off just fine against us.

GW, everyone is sick of your BS about free throws. Yes, obviously eFG% is more important. You don't need to tell us over and over that efficiency of non-free throw shots is more important. That's about the most obvious thing you could ever say about basketball.

I've never once seen you acknowledge 1 and 1s, which is only partially represented in FT percentage. If you haven't noticed, Gopher teams love to miss 1 and 1s at the end of close games (basically a turnover) while our opponents certainly hit at a much higher rate. It frustrates fans (as it should), and when they say something, you pretend that they're claiming FT percentage is more important than eFG%. Not the case. I don't know what was said in this thread about FTs (I just saw a quote of your annoying comment), but since it's usually close to the same BS, I'm going to assume that was the case again.

Clearly Nate Mason has earned the leadership role on this team. He's a very impressive young man. He won't be able to reel in the Seniors, but he gives hope for the future of this program.

I think that Hollins is playing hurt and it is effecting every part of his game including the psychological part. He probably needs to have his minutes dropped while Mason, Morris and Buggs get more playing time. Buggs has his limitations, but he played hard in those last 10 minutes. He needs to bring that for 25 to 30 as the season progresses. Nothing we can do about the weakness of our bigs. Just have to ride out the storm until next season.

Bring on Rutgers and perhaps the Goofs can play spoiler for the rest of the season.

I don't know if he's playing hurt, but it's clear that he's playing limited. The choice was made to forego surgery in the off season figuring rehab would get him most ready for the season. I think they were right, but it was the less bad of two bad choices.

He may be permanently hobbled. Some of these things don't have a treatment. Plenty of young players get out of the game early because of physical issues.

Career greatly hampered, by all things, by a frigging Badger stepping (purposely? we'll never know) under his jump shot. He still hasn't recovered, and other injuries are piling on. Dre plays with heart. Will cheer him on through his final season.

At least we get a higher draft pick next year.............don't we?
