***OFFICIAL GOPHERS-ILLINOIS BTT IN-GAME THREAD***

To quote Jim Lahey; "A *&^!#*&^!#*&^!#*&^!# storm is brewing bo-bandy"

that last call on mbakwe makes me believe the officials want to get rid of tubby too;)

Put a fork in them. We have Tubby making (or not making) the half time adjustments.

Text account of the game says Maverick got an offensive with 7 seconds....then nothing...end of half...how did we not get a shot in 7 seconds???

I don't know about anyone else. But I really like Jim Jackson's analysis at halftime's. Think he does a really good job.

I remember when we actually knew how to run a half-court offense with the bench.

Coleman and Williams cannot create a shot. Gophers look like they're waiting for this to be over. Trevor and Hollinses need to put this team on their back. We have the second best coach in this game.

Goll that 3 by Hollins would have been huge...cut it to 6 and I think we get the ball to start the half.

Pretty outrageous it's this close. If we even had a in-league average offense we would be beating these guys by double digits.
+ 3 We are lucky to be in it. I have tired so much of watching this team it's hard to even cheer for them right now. We actually came out strong with some energy but as soon as antyhing negative happens the players and coaches go into the fetal position.

That first half was absolute trash. Tubby coaches scared. He himself is completely afraid and coaches that way. You have to play Mbakwe and and Hollins wiht two fouls the way things were going. You have to take a chance once in a while. To get drummed like that for 10 minutes and just keep going with guys like Osceiniks, Ahanmisi, and Ingram. Lat shot clock heaves, shot clock violations, turnover.. this is all a sign of a team playing afraid. This is all about incredibly poor coaching.

You mean he won't keep running the "lazy pass the ball around the top of the key and then chuck up a prayer three as the shot clock expires when no one is in position to rebound" offense they have run most of the game?

More like 2 seconds, and then he was off balanced and tried to pass it off but didn't work out.

I can't believe we're only down 9, unbelievable. At the same time, I can't believe we're down 9 when Illinois isn't exactly lighting the world on fire. I also completely disagree with Tubby leaving both Hollins and Mbakwe down for the rest of the half. Well, Hollins had that mishap in Evanston, so maybe I leave him out. But I think in this game, you gotta give Mbakwe a chance at some point to kinda help get the ship back pointed the right way. Those double teams he was getting was at least opening up the floor a little bit, but once he went out...ouch.

The game is winnable still, but Dre's gotta warm up and hopefully Austin still has that stroke we saw early going, cause we're gonna need it BADLY.

They are going to go to the ol run the clock to 6 second, give it to Dre and the rest of you stand around.

This is shocking when we realize that Twitter and texting are the most effective means of communication.

This year? Against who - Sacred Heart, Our Lady of Saint Francis? The bench has been weak all season unless they have been up against poor competition. There are some guys on the bench but theri confidence is long gone from playing together as a second team so much and getting schooled so often.

He got the rebound with about three seconds but fell and slipped when he came down and the ball rolled to another player.

Arena about third full; at least 60% Illini fans but they are as discouraged as we are.

Always fun to watch the team hang their heads and make stupid plays the instant Trevor gets in foul trouble. Without him, it's like they think they *cannot* win.

Also, what is with this game plan? Illinois' guards are terrible defenders on-ball and we aren't attacking AT ALL. Figure it out in the 2nd half or deal with losing by 20 again.

Addition to bold, we need the BEAST to be a BEAST this second half.

GO GOPHERS!!!

Anybody remember Paul Westhead having the stones to play Bo Kimble with 4 fouls in the 1st half back in 1990? Tubby is and always been a stubburn, gutless Head Coach. I can't wait until the press conference announcing his buyout/retirement/firing.

This team is not fun to watch. I know Tubby can't put up shots for the team, but it seems like the only offensive play he can think of is to throw it around the perimeter and hope a deep two or three opens up. This has been the offense four the twenty-five years he's been here. Oh wait, it only seems like that long. Time for a new coach. Tubby is a remarkeable person and I wish him no ill will, but you measure a coach by results and his frankly, aren't good enough. We have several great players coming out om Minnesota in the next few years and I fear he doesn't have a chance with any of them. Time to go shopping for a new HC.

For a team that says they like to get up the floor and run they make no effort whatsoever to push the tempo. Mav is the human rain delay when he comes in the game we are due for a prayer to be thrown up late in the shot clock.
