Right on. He is doing the best he can. Now it's up to the coaches to assess whether that's good enough or to move on to another qb and if we have another qb to move on to.

If we rely heavily on the running game maybe an option qb maybe the answer.
 


Mike Sanford Jr = Robb Smith, maybe worse. Ciarocca sure helped PJ look good. A lot of season left, but does not look good. Bye week after Purdue. Fleck will figure it out at some point. Does Sanford get demoted before seasons end? Take play calling duties away?

Fair enough, but QBs miss open receivers all the time for various reasons. Was Morgan the only problem today, in your mind?

I didn’t see that, until the end of the game. He was getting blitzed every play, man. No outlets, long patterns.

I don't understand anyone giving Tanner a pass here. He has 33 games under his belt and is still practically a one read and done QB. He struggles to read a defense or make in-game adjustments. He was average at best last year and has completely regressed this year.

For PJ, this is year 5 and what was supposed to be getting back on track with a veteran team. Losing Mo was a massive blow but well-coached teams overcome the loss of one player. The clues have been pretty evident that Tanner is just not a QB that can win consistently in the Big10 or come through in the clutch. Fleck's inability to bench him adds to a growing list of pourous decisions.

Anthing less than an 9-4 season (includes bowl win) and Fleck should be gone. Going 5-7 or 6-6 with wins against Miami (Ohio), Colorado, Nebraska, Maryland, and Illinois, and maybe they split against Purdue/Northwestern, would mean absolutely nothing. He is 2-9 against ranked teams with an average marging of 18.1 ppg and a combined 1-7 against Wisconsin/Iowa (likely to be 1-9 after this year).

Read my post, the oline was horrible today. The OC is unimaginative. There was no reason to get beat by this team. They are horrible, picked to finish last in the MAC and it isn’t even close.

Gave him a pass last year with Covid....This was supposedly his best team......If they miss a bowl this year, the shine he got from 2019 will be gone.

You saw clean pockets today? We must have watched different games. He made a few bad decisions at the end, probably missed a few open receivers.

We ran 45 times for 182 yards versus Bowling Green today.

Clean pocket?? Sheesh. The O line was B-R-U-T-A-L. Faalele had the worst game of his career by a wide margin. The playcalling was criminal. By the end of the game, I think Morgan was shellshocked. He got blasted a few times to. He was not good but far from his fault here.

That’s how I saw it as well. I’m willing to wait for better analysis from guys that study all the tape, Derek Burns, Daniel, and so on. Maybe there are coaches here that can comment.

The way they played today the Gophers will be lucky to beat Illinois, Purdue, and maybe Northwestern. Going for it on 4th down deep in your own territory should be crossed off the play list, and struggling QBs should be pulled, regardless. At least we know no one will be looking for Fleck for one of the top openings this year.

Where did I indicate he had clean pockets all game? He faced pressure today but as I said, good QB's find ways to adapt and persevere. The few times he had a throwing lane, he threw poor passes. He completely folded which is why the coaching staff continues to keep the ball out of his hands and rely on the ground game. He should not start another game for the Gophers unless an absolute emergency.
