Official 2025 Roster Movement Thread - Who's In and Who's Out?

I think both of their starting S graduate this year and they don’t have any super high caliber recruits transfers coming in.

They do have two Jrs at 2nd string but maybe he’s better or just a depth piece.

I get we have a super talented room of S but I wish we could’ve found a spot for him. Watch BB get him drafted somehow.
Had Bryson stayed he almost certainly would have had a role on the team but he was going to be hard pressed to get significant playing time on defense with some of the other guys we have at safety.

UNC is much closer to home for him so that might have played into things as well.

So yeah, probably 2 years to play 1 for Roberson but your guess is as good as mine :)

this is what Randy Johnson said in the Strib:

Roberson, 6-1 and 230 pounds, spent five seasons at Oklahoma State, playing mostly on special teams early in his career and missing the 2022 season as a medical redshirt before taking over as a starter in 2024. He finished the season with 58 tackles, 8½ tackles for loss, three sacks, seven quarterback hurries and one interception.

He has one year of eligibility remaining

Makes sense to view him as a guy with one year of eligibility because this late in his career he isn't going to be looking to use a redshirt year. 2020 didn't technically count for players so he has played 3 and medically redshirted one.

My guess is that if he were unable to log more than 4 games in 2025 he could get the ability to play in 2026 but it seems highly unlikely that will end up being necessary.

has Za'Quan Bryan announced he is coming back yet? don't see him on the list of 50 and think he is an essential guy to keep given the lack of depth at the corner spots. he certainly seems like he'd be CB1 on next yrs roster.

The Spring portal is going to be very, very interesting after various position group battles and predictable NIL Tampering.

?
Bryson is from Georgia, not Norrh Carilina.
Bryson is from Waynesville, NC, just west of Asheville. He spent his last two years of HS at a boarding school in northern Georgia. He and his family, however, live in North Carolina. I hate to see him leave. But UNC is a lot closer to home. And he'd be fighting to see the field (with the emergence of Koi and Kerry Brown, plus D. Green). UNC looks to have more immediate opportunity at S than the Gophs. Good move for Bryson; Gophs will be fine at S. I don't think Bryson is one who got "pushed" into the portal, and I wish him lots of success at UNC.

I assume he is, and the coaches must be thinking the same given they didn’t go after more cbs in the portal so far.
