Official 2025 Gophers Football Recruiting Thread: Links, Tweets, Videos, Rumors

The funny part is that now people barely care when a high school kid decommits. Used to be huge news but in the portal era there is so much less worry in regards to high school recruits and high school recruiting classes.
Or commits to begin with.

Wonder if the Gophers are looking at the Blaine QB as an athlete, even a PWO. Complete stud. Leads all of 6A in rushing at 160 per game. (top 10 in state and only 6A player in the top10) Maple Grove and Anoka were only teams to hold him down.

Looks like a Mitch Liedner clone.

They are getting a visit for the Penn St game from a OL player who decommitted from Northern Illinois who visited Purdue and will visit Kansas St.

I just wonder what position he would play in college. He isn't a QB and he didn't strike me as a true running back either. But he is an impressive runner and really hard to bring down. He was pretty much their entire offense in the game against Rosemount.

As a PWO athlete he might make sense, get him in and see what he can do.

I haven't seen him play but maybe a LB or safety project at the P4 D1 level?

Doesn't seem to have a profile on sites like 247 from what I can tell but he is listed at 6'2" 190 on MNFootballhub. Decent size for a safety but I don't know anything about his prospects in football or possibly some other sport...

He is an impressive runner from the QB position.

I’ve heard about the qb from Blaine but never could figure out his name.. Since there’s no name attached to the Qb from Blaine can I send my son as the QB from Blaine…

Sam Shaughnessy

Just realized this profile is actually a hockey profile so maybe that is his primary sport?

Safety or WR at the D1 level.

Threw for 5 TDs last week and ran for 1. Not a great passer but completed 60%this year.

Wrong. If a good or great player decommits it is huge news. When the staff screwed up in analyzing a player and decided he is not good enough, it is a good thing.

I mean sure.....if a guy like Perich had decommitted it would have moved the needle but guys like him are not all that common. Most of the high school recruits that we are competing for are guys who can fairly easily be replaced in the class with a similar caliber of player. And with the portal fans don't get nearly as worked up about recruiting as they used to.

Per 247, rising RB commit Shane Marshall visited homestate Georgia Tech today who upset Miami...not great. Not shocking with how he's been performing this season that others came calling, hope we can hold on but I imagine it was an amazing atmosphere today.

Is it normal to have 2 specialists with no star rating? If we remove them, how much higher would we be?
Most specialists don't have very high ratings if ratings at all. Not sure if it accounts into the class rating.

The other question with specialists is whether or not they are scholarship or PWO players.

Teams now will now be able to provide 105 players with scholarships. Not sure if the walk-on or PWO will look like going forward. Will be interesting to see how MN tackles this new era. SEC has said that they are staying at 85 scholarship limit, but NCAA allows for 105.

I don't think the B1G has made a decision.

What was the reason for the SEC not allowing the additional scholarships?
