Official 2025 Conference Championship Weekend thread

Having a billionaire buy you a Heisman winner does make a difference, it turns out.

Indeed, IU 2025 is significantly different than IU 2024, because of the QB.

2024 IU exactly equals 2024 Vikings season:
- won a bunch of (easy) games, whoopty doo
- didn't even make the conf championship game, let alone win it = lose to Lions and thus did not win North
- made the playoff, whoopty doo
- didn't win a playoff game

That was a meaningless season.

Looks like 2025 IU will be different.

The fact Indiana is in this position after losing their leading receiver on the first drive is pretty wild. A couple blunders by OSU for sure, but I didn't think the Indiana defense was this good.

Indiana 2024 was good but benefited from an easy schedule and clearly wasn't ready for primetime.

Indiana 2025 is a different story. Won some tough games in season and can clearly compete with anyone.

They have hit a HR in the portal 2 years in a row Mendoza is special. How sustainable this all is remains to be seen, will probably hinge on who they find to play QB next year (maybe Mendoza's younger brother).

This is nitpicking, but Indiana could have burned off several valuable seconds by just running a play or two outside rather than straight into the line every time

Cig had already recruited the younger Mendoza in his first class at IU, give the man credit. You’re the same person who can’t understand why a player would want to announce intent to enter the portal before the official date.

Don't be ridiculous. It's entirely NIL megabucks. Mark Cuban ... blah blah blah. Cignetti is a fraud.

- Gopherhole geniuses
Mendoza specifically was not developed by Indiana and took big NIL money to land him. Indiana did extremely well in the portal and NIL is at least part of the reason why.

No one has said it’s entirely NIL but it has certainly played a part.

What did they pay?
