Official 2025 Conference Championship Weekend thread

Having a billionaire buy you a Heisman winner does make a difference, it turns out.

Indeed, IU 2025 is significantly different than IU 2024, because of the QB.

2024 IU exactly equals 2024 Vikings season:
- won a bunch of (easy) games, whoopty doo
- didn't even make the conf championship game, let alone win it = lose to Lions and thus did not win North
- made the playoff, whoopty doo
- didn't win a playoff game

That was a meaningless season.

Looks like 2025 IU will be different.
But they didn't buy a Heisman winner. They bought a guy who was a really good college QB and made him a Heisman winner.

Something not quite right with that boy lol
Hey I have a somewhat lower-toned voice, but when i am overcome with joyful emotion, I cannot control the pitch of my voice either lol

lol 2024 was a historic year for IU as a program, for sure not meaningless.

They could get bounced in the first round in this year’s playoff and it should still be considered a generational run in just winning the B1G. We are talking about Indiana.

If Cignetti was some football genius, he would have:

- found a way to beat NDSU back when JMU was in FCS -- NOPE
- found a way to actually get into the conference championship game when JMU won 11 games in 2023 -- NOPE
- found a way to actually get into the conference championship game in IU won 11 games in 2024 -- NOPE

2025 is different because Mark Cuban decided to buy IU a Heisman winner from another school.

Cignetti didn't do that.

He hasn't figured anything out that no one else knows. I'm sure he's good ... but he's not some genius.

He got lucky as hell in 2023 and 2024.

In other news.....the ACC sucks.....7-5 Duke winning late in what is apparently the conference championship game.

Good Lord....Duke trying to run out the clock and the RB goes out of bounds.....and then Virginia punt returner fair catches it at the 4.....just ugly football.

He's better than good. Indiana was 3-9 two years ago. He is one of the greatest coaches the sport has seen in a long time.

Got screwed over on the clear first down.

Kicker biffed it

You missed all the OSU holds? Hmmm…

But yes, I agree. I wish the officials were better and defenses were allowed to perform. Let them play, fairly per the rules. Or change the rules.

Had some money riding on this one?

Again, they did not buy Travis Hunter. They bought a decent ACC quarterback. They had money and they spent it correctly. That counts for something

Why are you acting like it was the exact same players that went 3-9?

He brought in all new players.

So he helped re-build the program. And went 24-2 over a 26-game stretch. It's going to go down as one of the greatest turn-arounds in sports history. I'm not sure what could change the narrative at this point.

What took him so long to get to D1 football? Late bloomer?
