Official 2022 Gophers Football Recruiting Thread: Links, Tweets, Videos, Rumors

He did already...through the transfer portal. The caliber of WR considering us under Fleck is off the charts compared to what we were able to get under previous coaches.
Wide receiver was probably the weakest position under Kill. Absolutely brutal.

You think PJ would be able to pull in mid 90s high 4⭐️ WR at this point after Johnson and Bateman
They’ll come in time. As long as he keeps putting 3 star wrs in the NFL. He’s also finding under rated guys rated lower like Autman Bell and Corey Davis. I kind of trust in the wrs Fleck brings in regardless of ratings at this point.

per Strack:

Well, the recruiting dead period is officially over and that means prospective division I college athletes are free to roam college campuses who are inviting them in for a visit. As expected, Minnesota Gophers head football coach PJ Fleck is wasting no time in getting kids to the U of M campus and will host multiple visitors today. His guest list has one little twist in it, though. In a tag-team effort with new head basketball coach, Ben Johnson, Cretin Derham Hall point guard and defensive back, Tre Holloman, will be on campus today.

Go Gophers!!

per Shama:

June and July are prime recruiting months for Gophers football coach P.J. Fleck and staff. Expect multiple verbal commits for the class of 2022 during the next several weeks. Minnesota’s class for next year, with five verbal commits, is currently ranked No. 35 nationally by 247Sports.

Go Gophers!!

So, as to Hoskins’ size, he looks to be almost the same height as PJ (5’10”); Knuth is supposedly 6’4.” Rondale Moore is what, 5’7”? Jaylen Waddle is 5’10”. So is Tyreek Hill. I am looking forward to Hoskins’ extraordinary athleticism. Don’t this his height will be a factor, if he is deployed right. Maybe no one else was concerned about Hoskins’ size, but I got a was curious whether he could physically handle B1G play. Looks to me like he will be just fine.

I need to see him next to Eastern to get an accurate height.

It would be really nice if they would add one of those height rulers like they have by the door at most gas stations to the background. That way we would know for sure just how tall a guy is :)

I think a good, in-state comp for Hoskins is J.D Spielman.

Apparently lots of '22 and '23 visitors on campus. Anybody got the scoop on some big and/or interesting names? I don't follow recruiting closely but know that Fleck usually makes hay in June.

*Off-topic, but speaking of recruiting...I went to the 247 site to see if there were any free articles about the camp this week and I noticed that Rutgers currently has the #7 class for 2022 with 12 commits -- 5 of whom are 4*. I know Schiano had some success there previously and has both NFL and OSU bona fides to sell, but how in the world is he doing this?!

NJ is chock full of football recruits--it's just been a very long time since they have chosen to give Rutgers a shot.

Good observation. Spielman was listed on Nebraska roster at 5’9 185, though in his final year at TCU he was listed at 167. Hoskins and Spielman are very similar physically and, I hope, in talent. The film somebody put up of Hoskins dunking is pretty indicative of his innate ability.

Can you provide the link to him getting blanketed? I would like to see that one as well. Thanks in advance
Nope, sorry to disappoint. Can you prove he wasn't? Thanks in advance. Like I said, do you really think he only ran 4 routes all practice? Gimme a break.

Gawd, you're a dick.
Please explain? I just don't understand the excitement behind a walk on catching 4 passes in practice and then thinking this guy is good. Is something wrong with that, or are we only allowed to post warm & fuzzy feelings type of posts?

I dont understand your completely baseless comments. At least the earlier posters were commenting on things we actually saw. You are telling us about things no one saw, including yourself. Your the one that needs to explain.

Kill and his comments about the great WRs upcoming ....

Ok, a walk-on WR showed an edited video clip of 4 nice routes where he beat his man. If he did it 5 times, we'd have probably seen 5 routes in the clip. Maybe not, but usually if you have 5 nice things, you show all 5, not just 4. So either a) he only ran 4 routes period or b) he ran more routes and they weren't like the 4 we saw.

Seems logical. What's the problem with my reasoning? Or are you just attacking the monicker name like bob boblaw or whatever his name is?
