If that happens, I think that it would be the most significant recruitment of the Fleck era.

I’m sure some will say it’s not a big accomplishment since they’re from in-state akin to some downplaying getting CC, Et al to stay home.

I realize that some people will feel that way, but I'm okay with that. Since I will always regard Terry as part of Minnehaha, the only similar situation with one school is Dunlop, Faalele and Annexstad from IMG. I would regard this as more significant because I'd like to see the Gophers become as successful in keeping top in-state players as the Badgers and Hawkeyes. Finally, these won't be the last good players coming out of Minnehaha (e.g. Trevon Howard).

247 crystal ball is currently 100% for Kaden Johnson, Terry Lockett, and Craig McDonald: https://247sports.com/college/minnesota/Season/2020-Football/InstitutionPredictions/

Lockett was also at Minnehaha before moving out to Ohio. Each recruit has offers from about half the B1G.

Yes but....the only guy with more than one CB is Lockett, who has two. Kyle G. Is very plugged in on that site so this is a good sign, just saying that it’s not overly telling.

You are right CB's aren't very telling but what is telling is Kaden Johnson continually going to gophers hoops games and giving PJ hugs. I mean we are talking full on bear hug here.

Yeah, it would be up there with Dunlap, Faalele and Annexstad. It's hard to beat this trio, however, I think the Kaden Johnson, Lockett, McDonald group might mean something more symbolically.

Topeka Capital Journal:

High’s Ky Thomas ‘wowed’ by Fleck, Minnesota program

When Ky Thomas and his family traveled to the Minnesota campus last week, the star Topeka High junior running back thought he was just going on another in a long line of college visits.

But by the time Thomas left the Minneapolis and St. Paul area he knew he was going to become a Gopher, orally committing to P.J. Fleck’s program last Friday night.

“I definitely didn’t even think about committing,″ Thomas said of his pre-visit mindset. “I already thought I had my plans set on where I was going to go and this visit was basically because they had offered and showed me love and gave me the opportunity to play there, so it was kind of out of respect. Then I went there. I had a chance to go to two practices and one was an open practice so I got to see their fan base come in and just seeing how many fans they had that showed up to a practice was crazy.

“I saw the head coach, coach Fleck and my running backs coach, coach (Kenni) Burns, in action while they were coaching their players and I loved how they were talking to their players and how they came in contact with them and how they got their attention. It was just something different that I hadn’t seen at other schools. They’re on a new wave on how they do stuff because coach Fleck’s a young coach — he’s only 38 — so he had a different kind of energy level that I didn’t see at any other school that I’ve been to.″

Thomas, who has rushed for 4,694 yards and scored 66 touchdowns in three seasons at Topeka High, also had offers on the table from several Power Five programs, including Kansas, Kansas State and Iowa, but felt secure that Minnesota really wanted him.

“Minnesota’s only taking one running back from my class and that was big for me, being the only back that they’re taking,″ he said. “I saw the opportunity of getting in there and being able to play early and compete for playing time as a freshman.

“I love coach (Fleck) and what he was talking about and love coach (Burns) and what he was talking about. They really connected with me outside of football, just life and life after football and what it takes to become a better man as well. They really sold me on that and my dad was there with me and he loved it. My mom was there and she loved it. My whole family was there and they fell in love with it and it was just an opportunity I had to jump on.″

Thomas said his dad (Tobi, a Topeka High assistant) had always told him to take his time before making a decision, but Ky said his commitment to the Gophers was a family decision.

“My dad, every visit I went on he would say, ‘Just take three or four days and let it sink in,’ because there were schools I visited and I loved it when I was there and then three days later I kind of thought about it and it just didn’t feel like it fit,″ Ky said. “Minnesota wasn’t easy either, because I for sure don’t want to be this far away from my family, seven hours. I would rather be much closer, but they loved it just as much as I did and it was just a golden opportunity.″

good hands. Highpoints the ball well. Unsure what his level of competition looks like but doesn't blow me away watching his film online. Always hard to say with that being the only exposure you get to a player. I trust PJ big time on WR evals though. If he wants him, let's go get him

I agree with the upnorthkid. Have to trust Coach Fleck. Nevertheless at 5’10”, one would hope that he runs a sub 4.5. In today’s football that small of receiver has trouble succeeding. And yes, I know we can all list short receivers who were successful. Just saying, 6’2” would be better.

True. If has a big heart and great hands, I'll take this guy any day.

I'll trust PJ's judgement on O-lineman at this point.

The recruiting sites aren't very high on him. Obviously that doesn't really matter, but interesting to see us jumping on some of these kids early.

The recruiting ranking folks are going to be very upset about this one. These commits do not have the makings of a class to rival Ohio State

I'm more willing to take a chance on 6'6", 300 lb. than a 5'10" receiver. I think that 1 more WR would be enough for this class, and I'd rather save a spot for a WR like Jadon Thompson. Why be in a rush?
