One interesting thing I've noticed, is that this coaching staff has offered a whopping 23 kids listed as "athletes"(on 24/7). I don't remember the previous staffs offering as many.

Our old staff loved to offer HS QB's with the intention of turning them basically into "athletes".

Hey it's the closest the U of MN has been to the Sweet 16 in quite some time.

All joking aside, if we can get him and have him help us recruit his teammate that would be a nice score

That is an impressive list of 16 schools to be in. We have sure raised our recruiting profile. The Western Michigan jokes aren't relevant any more.

It's not a terrible strategy. Many HS the best athlete on team is the QB


I believe Northwestern converts a lot of HS QB's to other positions

Correct, but Northwestern
recruits those kids to be athletes, they also recruit QBs to be QBs. We spent the last 6 years recruiting guys who were supposed to be both, but in most cases were neither.

We've won the same number of games they have from 2012-2016 (37). We were bowl eligible every year (once with 5 wins), while they missed bowls twice with 5 wins. If you remove 2012 (still a little early in Kill's tenure after taking over an absolute dumpster fire), we won 4 more games (27 vs 31 wins).

Bet Carroll follows suit this weekend or very soon at least. I know he is taking his official there this weekend. Very disappointing that we won't land Carroll or Benhart... I know Fleck and Co tried really hard on them, but frustrating we still can't land that caliber of in state player consistinetly.

A 3rd party Tennessee offered 2/21/2018. Benhart did an unofficial on 4/7, and is back again on 4/20 this weekend.

Who knows where he will eventually land. It will be too bad for MN if they do not get the top two OL in the State. If it is Tennessee for Benhart, at least we don't get to face him every year if he picks WI (FIFY) instead. I am keeping my fingers crossed. I gather that Carroll to ND is a foregone conclusion. Those d@rn crystall balls!

It seems like QBs, OLs and DTs are positions that have a lot of stiff competition.

With Duggan going elsewhere and Bachmeier looking like he's going elsewhere, is Clark Plan C in QB recruiting? Big kid who has TCU and Washington State offers.

We hope we see him in a Gopher's Camp. That is where Cole Kramer got his offer after camping. At 6'5", and if he is serviceable he may develop into something.

OK, I am confused. I see Benhart as warmer for us and Wisky, not Nebraska. Secondly, I am wondering if Max signing with TCU hurt our chances in getting Benhart? I believe we would have lost Quinn Carroll anyway and that ND was his top choice. Where did Tennessee come in as well, that one is new to me??

I bet Tennessee is doing a Frank Ragnow song and dance on him about how superior the SEC is, and that they can guarantee his entry into the NFL.

247 has us as a 2.8 and Rivals has Brady Weeks as unrated while 247 has him a a two star. I know it is early and only five commits so far but this class has a long way to go to warrant the ELITE status.
