Thayer Munford.

Any word about his official to tOSU yesterday? The tOSU coaches made two in-house visit with Thayer on January 14 & 16.

New Gophers OL Coach Ed Warinner also had an in-house visit with him on January 14 at which time he extended an offer. Ed Warinner may have been recruiting him while he was at tOSU.

He's warmer to both UK & Pitt which tells me he wants to be closer to his hometown Massillon Ohio. If Ed Marinner can get him that would be a major recruiting coup of the year for the Gophers.

If I were him, I'd seriously consider the Gophers. He'll be with a coach with whom he has a relationship with, plus he'll probably get more playing time and nototriety.

Beck or Armstrong would be awesome...both and I'm buying for anyone up near Brainerd. [emoji6]

I'm glad we're creating a culture where a recruit no longer gets laughed at for saying he wants to win a Big Ten title.

I'm in a fish house on Mille lacs if you want to head down! Got a couple extra bunks.

I agree it's beck and Armstrong. Beck makes sense with Linguist's tweet yesterday. Let's hope!

This is really getting into the realm of speculation, but is it reasonable to think kids won't give verbal commitments until after the hearings? Maybe Fleck has his mind made up on the 5 recommended for expulsion but doesn't want to look overcommitted on scholarships?

Munford would be a stunning coup. We got in really late as a school, but have coaches that have been talking to him all along. We don't often take recruits away from Ohio St, but we don't often take their coaches either.

*Oddly enough, 247 keeps the current 14 teams in past B10 recruiting rankings.
**Iowa has no data for 2002. In fact they're not even listed in the B10 for that year.

I think Rivals has better rankings. The ones for WMU are quite a bit different than what is listed here.

And the ones who want to read about recruiting really appreciate it.

I've said this before and I'll repeat it again. Coming into the 2017 recruiting class (prior to the suspensions), our biggest needs were d-line, QB, and WR. When Claeys was let go, we had 1 D-line recruit, 1 WR, and 0 QBs from high school. That's right, in 11 months we had 2 commitments from arguably our 3 biggest areas of needs. In the 3 weeks that Fleck has been on the job, he has added 3 D-line recruits, 3 WRs, and 2 QBs, all ranked at levels at or above what we are used to getting. I call that an improvement in recruiting.

I agree!

for those of you who care about crystal ball.

Munford picking up traction to Ohio State again

Armstrong picked to MN by Gobie

Not sure why my previous comment was part of the purge but I'll try again- he's already overcommitted.

Ryan Burns Tweeted that Armstrong is going to visit Notre Dame this week.

It is looking like the five expulsions may stick.

I am shocked at what Fleck has been able to do in just a couple weeks. There is no doubt he can recruit. Can't wait to see if he can coach.

I assume you mean PJF will kick them off team even if they win their hearing and don't get expelled. Would be a shame to assume the fix is in on the hearings.

There are a bunch of very good teams with commitments in the low teens who will close fast in the next week and get their classes filled. Happens every year. He's done a nice job, but let's not get carried away here.

You're not lumping us into the "very good team" group are you?

He is flipping guys committed to decent power 5 schools at the last hour to come play at Minnesota of all places. First Missouri. Now Texas Tech. He has been here for 2 weeks. He deserves credit for that.

I would agree. The initial group of WMU flips was low hanging fruit, but what he has done since is impressive. On paper. Brew had some impressive rankings too which is actually a big reason why I am so skeptical of rankings in general. Let's hope PJF is great at identifying talent that fits his system and that fits together - things Brew couldn't do at all. If so, could be a fun ride.
