Official 2015 Recruiting Updates Thread: Links, Tweets, Videos, Stories, Rumors, etc.

I rarely get into recruiting this far in advance of signing day but I just took to the time to watch Croft's Hudl video and I can't believe he hasn't been offered by more higher level D1 schools, the Fighting Beckmans not withstanding. I think we're going to have to beat out a few more schools before all is said and done.

Move on

Winning more than what? Indiana? We not only won 3 more games than Indiana last year, we also beat them. Thus far, we've been beaten out for 6 kids by Indiana (though 3 were from Indiana, so that's understandable). Tegray Scales also would have looked pretty solid in Maroon and Gold last year, but he chose Indiana as well.

I mean, I get that we can't get them all, but how many games are we going to have to win before we can competitively recruit in Illinois and Ohio against schools like Indiana and Kentucky? Because thus far, those schools haven't won ****.

The kids we did get, want to be here. We'll coach who we have and move forward. We haven't plateaued. We are still rising.
Patience, support, some belief, some shared vision might all help the future outcomes. Living in the past will not accomplish anything.

Right. Which speaks to the point that it's going to take more than just winning more games to start winning some of these recruiting battles. It hasn't had any material effect so far this year.
Mostly wrong, we are talking to more good athletes out of state every year. We need a big bowl game at least once to be taken seriously by kids going to helmet schools.
IU needs to bowl this year or the PT story wears out.

right. We are getting kids who can grow into bigger faster players. Until we get over the hump that is the option we have. In fact that is the option about ten out of the fourteen B1G teams really has. Alvarez still says Wisconsin is a developmental program and they have been good a long time. They do not recruit much against Michigan, OSU, ND, except in Wisconsin.
Virginia Tech has been solid a longtime and they are not getting OSU or scUM type classes.
Its who we are, it does not mean we can't be good soon, it does mean it is harder. It also means taking a player who can't play really hurts because the next class has kids who mostly need a couple of years to get better. We can't just plug in freshman starters like OSU can do.

We are moving up the board. Four years ago, we were rated such a poor team, we were the bottom. I see us landing several 4 star recruits next recruiting cycle. This is going to be such a fun year watching the team.

Green and Garcia would be nice

Go Gophers!!

per Marcus:

Chaska offensive lineman Bronson Dovich, one of six players in the Gophers' 2015 recruiting class, seems as enthusiastic as Jones about playing for the home state Big Ten school.

Kill also received a commitment from Red Wing offensive lineman Nick Connelly. But the next best prospect in the state is DeLaSalle's 6-5, 280-pound defensive lineman Drayton Carlberg, who has scholarship offers from Ohio State, Michigan State, Wisconsin, Oregon, Pittsburgh and many others.

"He loves coach Killl and the Gophers," DeLaSalle coach Sean McMenomy said of Carlberg. "They have done an amazing job with him and he is really loyal to them.

Carlberg's national profile continues to rise, though, with an impressive summer, which includes a standout performance at Michigan State's camp in June.

Good interview with John Kelly that has not been posted yet, talks about Minnesota a lot. All the way back from June 14th but he has not made any visits since so the info should still be relevant and not too outdated. One thing i really do not like is that he said he wants to let the whole process play out and possibly wait all the way until signing day.

Hmm, I'll be in Eugene the 25th-28th. Might have to wander around in Gopher gear just in case.

Has a grade of 89 on 247, the highest a 3 star can get and ranked the #20 safety. Will be attending The Opening so you know this guy is a stud. I've read that apparently it will come down to us and Stanford and he doesn't have an offer there but will get one if he can make it out to their camp. Also the brother of former LSU star and current NFL DB Eric Reid. He would be big time. I think his offer list will blow up however.

I have to think LSU would have a good chance at him if they offer.

John Kelly is no longer coming to the BBQ because his mom wants him to visit in August when it works better for her schedule. I'm sure it happens to every program but man it seems like we get a ton of these last minute visit changes.
