Official 2013 Class Recruiting Updates Thread

You are responding to the wrong person, Bob is agreeing with you (and me).

Just to be clear I am not trying to imply he is wavering or anything like that. Seems like most of the tweets posted here reflect a kid who plans to stick with his commitment. I just found "shock the world" to be an odd phrase to use when you are planning to do something that has not been a secret for months now.

Look at it this way....if I say I am going to sign and tweet over and over again about how excited I am to sign and get to the school....should the "world" then be shocked on signing day when I do in fact sign with the place I told everyone I would be playing my college ball months ago?

Just an odd phrase to use given the information that is out there. Certainly could mean absolutely nothing, again no way to know what qualifies as shocking the world in the mind of an 18 year old kid that has been the center of the universe for years.

I suppose that by sticking to his commitment to Minnesota he feels he will be shocking everyone in his world.

I remember a time when my whole world consisted of my family and my high school.

Can anyone verify if Jordan Hinojosa landed in Mpls today at 2:16 as his father stated. Would be great to have him here.

Per GI Radio:
- Wolitarsky will be committing somewhere on the 27th at an all-star game
- Hunter Jarmon has eliminated Minnesota
- Nate Wozniak visiting next weekend
- "Both lines - offensive line and defensive line - looks to be full. I know Brewster got a lot of heat when he brought in no one..."
- Ryan Burns' predictions - Kareem Hunt to Toledo, Duke Rile to Minnesota, Rayfield Dixon to West Virginia (may decide tomorrow), Reggie Spearman to Iowa, De'Vondre Campbell to Kansas State, Drew Wolitarky to Minnesota, Tedric Thompson to Minnesota, Brandon Arnold to Oregon State
- Vontarious West should and will be offered when he visits next week. Continuous praise for West throughout the show. Playmaking defensive back.
- Goal is to sign 20 or 21
- Ryan Burns is confident Nate Andrews will stick with Minnesota. He's visiting Florida State soon (maybe tomorrow?); we'll know more about how solid his commitment is in the upcoming week.
- We're battling with South Florida for multiple recruits
- Connor Rhoda will be making his decision in the near future about a PWO spot. Leaning towards becoming a Gopher. Chad Fahning and the receiver from Wayzata will also be making decisions soon about walking on.
- Kevin Spears was told this weekend that he'll know soon whether he'll get a Gophers offer. Apparently LSU already offered him three weeks ago.

reading way to much into an 18 year olds twitter comment

Yeah I don't think Webb is going to Toledo, Rivals doesn't even list Toledo as being interested let alone offering. I think it's between us, B.C. and USF for Webb. It's also between us and B.C. for Silas Spearman.

2014 QB Clayton Thorson comments on the Gophers via ESPN RN

“It seems like their program is heading in the right direction based on their success this year,” Thorson wrote in a text message, “and I know Coach Kill is a great coach and someone you would want to be around.”

His video is pretty impressive. Hopefully, Kill can use his northern Illinois ties with him.

#Minnesota will have Chicago LB @Reggie_Spearman and Georgia CB & Gopher commit Jalen Myrick (@jAutooo) on official visits this weekend.

I know stars don't matter to many.....but.....looks like no 4-Star recruit signings this year.

Raphael Webb and Kareem Hunt to Toledo? I'm not sure if I see that happening.

Fixed. They were talking about running backs for awhile and I got the two mixed up.

this is getting interesting! can't wait til Feb 6th

Exciting stuff

Ryan Burns reporting that the Gophers have a surprise official visitor this weekend.

Here's what I got...please add to it...we have 14 commits at the moment...Rivals guy thinks we sign 20 to 22 guys...."wouldn't be working this hard for 3 spots"

5 LB in the mix: Reggie Spearman, Riley, Dixon, Campbell and now Rashawn Smith
4 WR in the mix: Wolitarsky, Spears, Jarmon, Valdes
3 RB in the mix: Hunt, Webb, Silas Spearman
3 DB in the mix: Tedric Thompson, Arnold, West
1 TE in the mix: Wozniak
0 OL
0 DL

The LB group looks very solid! Nice to land two of those guys. They think we get one of the LB likely and Wolitarsky and Thompson.

School starts Tuesday. Hinojosa, Streveler, Wilson are expected to be here by Rivals guy. I thought Epke was coming in January too?

Rivals guy also said 3 of our remaining 6 or so commits will be complete surprises to us in all likelihood. Just how it works. 19 days until Feb 6. How is it all going to shake out? We probably gotta wait 10 days before it shapes up more clearly.

What's the latest on Wolitarsky? I haven't been following recruiting much. Would love to get him.

Ha Kevin Spears verbals to La Tech, gets an LSU offer the next day.

Wolitarsky

What's the latest on Wolitarsky? I haven't been following recruiting much. Would love to get him.

LOL - I wish I had a dollar for every time this question has been asked over the last couple of months. I will be happy when signing day is here so I won't have to read this question again. Patience has never been the GopherHole's strong point.

Per his Rivals' info he still lists Minnesota and San Jose State as High.

I'm loving this class more and more.
If we end up with 2 more linebackers, another WR, and another DB out of the group posted I can't see a weak signing amongst them.

To me Wolitarsky just looks like a good fit at WR. He runs phenomenal routes and catches the ball well. Limegrovers O simply doesn't require unreal speed to blow the top off the D when the running game is going well. I hope we get him.

T. Thompson would be a nice get too. He moves like a safety but will be built like a LB. a nice combo.

Any of the others to me look solid. We need LBer help desperately IMO.
If we get Duke Riley that would be a huge coup.

Wozniak at TE? He's huge now, I like it, but he'll be a 6'9'' 300 lber by the time he's a Sr.
Line that up next to Pirsig and watch defenses stare in awe.

I know stars don't matter to many.....but.....looks like no 4-Star recruit signings this year.

Yeah, it's a little disheartening, but my opinion is that most, if not all, of the 4-stars we are able to realistically sign at this point are going to be in-state guys. We never had even the slightest chance with Onwualu, and Brookins decided he'd rather play for the enemy than show home state pride and go with the school who was there from the beginning.

We will have as many as 4 in-state 4-stars next year (Jones for sure, Ragnow likely, Stelter and Hassenauer possible but not likely) and I think we are in good standing with all 4. Getting 8 or 9 wins against a relatively soft schedule next year would go a long ways in showing us how Kill can recruit when he's proven to have a decent team on the field.

I know stars don't matter to many.....but.....looks like no 4-Star recruit signings this year.

Can never rule out the last minute surprise but I would agree probably no 4 stars this year. Recruiting is such a crap shoot, this has the appearance of a solid class yet when you stack it up against other Big Ten schools it looks very average.

Next season we should start to get a pretty good indication if Kill's systems and the staffs ability to recruit lower ranked players (by comparison to the rest of the conference) that fit their systems can work in the Big Ten against teams that on paper are playing with superior athletes.

If Chad Fahning decides to accept the PWO offer from the Gophers (as it looks like he might), he would be a GREAT get by PWO standards. Guys that have offers from MAC and Ivy League schools are the kind of guys we need to be getting to boost the walk-on side of things.

Yes! I was surprised that the GI guys thought yesterday that Dixon was going to WVU, as I assumed he was coming here for a long time. I'm glad he made the right choice!

I like the fact that we beat out WVU!!!! In all honesty I don't know much about Dixon but that makes 4 LB's in this class along with Wipson, Wilson, and Laster!
