Northwestern Game: Who's going?

After the last two weeks, guessing that if you want to go down for the game there should be a ticket or two available.

The wife and I will be there. We've attended the past 3 times the Gophers played there and we've always parked in Lot 132 on campus. There's been other Gopher Fans in that lot before so we're going to try it again. They do have a shuttle that picks up on Sheridan Road and takes you to Ryan Field. Hope to see others there!

Have there been Gopher fans tailgating in this lot in the past?

What's the scalping situation? Easy? Plentiful? Cheap? I've been holding off on buying tickets and would prefer to just scalp a pair outside the stadium Saturday morning. Advice?

That's where we've parked each of our last two visits. Not exactly a robust tailgating scene, though.

Easy, plentiful, cheap are all great descriptions. I'd be shocked if you paid more than $10 per ticket. And once inside, you'll basically be able to choose where you want to sit on the visiting side as long as it isn't between the 40s.

I'll be there tailgating in lot 108 (by the lake) - have heard that is the most "busy" lot on gamedays. Can't believe it's all free parking, that's awesome!

While it's been brought up before, pizza is still an important topic. One must be properly fueled for a Gophers vs. Wildcats matchup.
Gino's East? Been there, and for me, overrated. Giordanno's? Been there too. Pretty good, but want to try something different.
Lou Malnotti's? I've seen it on a lot of top lists. Is it all hype, or is it worth the try? Any hidden gems?

We've been to Lou's a few times. My kids really like it so we will go again. I bet there are better places though. Let's hear some more recommendations from Gopher fans in Chicago.

Giordano's is my favorite. If you want an experience, albeit not with pizza, go to Ed Debevick's.

If you like deep dish, Lou Malnati's is good. I like Aurelio's, but I think most of the locations are west and south of the city.

If you're in the city, looking for a "hidden" gem for outsiders, try Pequod's.

Otherwise, as far as the chain places go, Lou's is my favorite.

There's a place in Wilmette, about a 1/2 mile north of the stadium (located across the street from the Linden L station at Linden and 4th St. You can walk to the game from there), called JP McCarthy's that has really good thin crust . I think Malnati's is the best Chicago style pizza in town, and I've tried a lot of them.

The scalping situation will be easy and cheap. Just approach one of the sellers a few minutes before kickoff and name your price. Hell, given how the air has come out of the balloon for both these programs over the past few weeks, he might be willing to pay YOU to take them.

Yeah, but we're leaving Thursday and the tickets wouldn't even be here by then. Further, $15 UPS for shipping a 4 oz. package is criminal.

You could just print them off from the site, even if you had too going to kinkos is cheaper than paying shipping

Instant Download (still not free at $4.95) is only available on two pairs of tickets, one pair going for $55/ea. and the other for $70 apiece. Not gonna happen.

all of you guys and gals going down for the game, I feel your excitement. I think the Gophs are going to get a W.........

Should hopefully be there in time to throw some firehouse steaks on the grill and have a beer or two...can't wait!

I actually ordered 4 today for our group from Stub Hub in Section 117. Paid a $15 fee, but you are able to pick them up a location near the stadium before the game on Saturday - no need to worry about shipping.

Given the way the price has come down - I figured adding $4 to each ticket was still cheaper than the face value of the Gopher Non-Conference Games.

We will be staying downtown and making the train ride up in the morning.

I did the same, except I had them shipped to our hotel. The particular feature we were looking for (aisle seating) wasn't available with any of the in-person pickup tickets, and I figured the shipping/pickup fees were about the same. Ended up getting fairly decent tickets for $54 after the shipping and fees, so pretty cheap for the peace of mind of knowing where we'll be sitting in advance, and for not having to haggle with scalpers.

We will also be staying downtown and taking the train ride up in the morning. Hoping to see lots of maroon and gold on the purple line!

I'll be there! Will be meeting NateDawg and company down there, thank god for that...as per usual, it's impossible to find people to go to road games. I'm used to our fanbase though, and I'm excited.

Game...pizza

We hope to be there - party of 4. Probably no tailgating as I have my 2 young grandsons along. As far as pizza - Connies has always been our favorite. We always go to their original restaurant on the south side - a long ways from Evanston, but I think they now have a downtown location.

My wife and I are going and would love to tailgate with someone. If you are willing to have us just let me know what to bring and when and where to go!

This is our first away game. I am hoping to do at least one or two a year from here on out.

Thanks,

It may be free because you are a good 1.5 miles from the stadium, my friend. Ryan is nowhere near the lake, but I imagine you knew that. Tailgating on the lake would be great with good weather, so here's to good weather.

They're doing a load of construction in that area for the new athletics complex too, which has taken over multiple lots. Give yourself enough time to navigate the mess around the lakefront lots.

There's a shuttle on gamedays from over there, shouldn't be too bad.

2 more Gopher fans will be reporting for duty in Evanston. Will probably try to check out Lot 132!

Go Gophers! Ski-U-Mah!

I read somewhere that lot 105 is closed due to construction. Does anyone know if lot 122 open for public parking on Saturday?
