NIT Game #1: #1 Gophers vs. #8 High Point [ESPN3, 7:15PM]

That ended up being a problem. Went to MinneStoa's house. We called Senser's and they said they were playing it, but his place was closer. Can't believe a local sports bar didn't broadcast something that was the home team on a feed as mainstream as ESPN 3. This isn't like I asked them to log into some obscure site to televise tomorrow's U20 cricket match between England and India.

If true, then Senser's paid a hell of a price for the game. I was at Bunny's in SLP, and the manager told me it was illegal for them to show the game no matter how they streamed it.

That seems strange. I wonder why it would be illegal. All you'd need is a Roku/AppleTV to get the Watch ESPN app.

St. Mary's looked like complete garbage for most of the 1st half as well. It happens.

It's true. They only brought the fire when they were down late and had to rally. I couldn't believe how many times they simply threw the ball away or coughed it up. If we apply any pressure to them, they'll have to take their ball security up a notch.

You responded to someone saying we should talk about the game, and essentially agreed with him. Yet your posts were not about the game either.

I'm not trying to start anything, just thought it was kinda ironic.

You are right, I did it but if you notice, I did it when it at the end of the game. Bleed kept posting about the game but people argued about the old vs. new coach. That's what I was saying. Sorry, if I contradicted myself.

Personal use vs. business use.

A LOT of years ago, at the old Classic Car Company on Excelsior, there was a boxing match...a big one like Tyson vs. Spinks or something like that. The owner knew that the PPV option at home was ~$50, but to get it as his bar it would have been over $5,000. Well, he figure since even a 15 round match would last only 59 minutes that he would record it on PPV at home, and run the tape over to the bar and play it. Most people in a bar on a Saturday night wouldn't know the difference if it started at 7:00 or 9:00. Except the two cable company employees sitting at the bar. They turned him in, and his fine was at least double the business use fee.

Pitino says he expects Mathieu to play Sunday. His injury was a hip injury that was initially hurt in practice

I was grabbing a brat... but when I got back I was told he ran into a camera guy during the first half.

Can't say I learned much about next season from last nights game except Pitino may be leaning towards playing Mo more and EE less. EE really looks like he regressed, a 7'-1" guy should be kicking a$$ down low against a school like that and he won't even dunk the ball when it's a no brainier.

Someone should ask Pitino why EE can't dunk. I'd love to hear his response, it would probably have a good amount of humor in it. It's maddening how tentative he is around the basket. It should be second nature to dunk the ball for a guy his size. And I think he's only dunked a couple of times in his career. I know he had one this year because it shocked me.

That reminds me of this gem from Pitino:

I want to know where his offense went. He had some at the beginning of the year and had a career game against Ohio State. Then... nothing.

That miss last night was brutal. Whether they try a lay-up or try a dunk, I don't think there is anything that ticks me off more in basketbal than when a player misses a shot when they are alone with the basket.

Mo might be the weakest 250lb guy with the ball as well. How many times has he been tapped an his dunk is either missed or he misses the put back. Absorb and finish. He finishes like I do around the rim, and I'm almost a whole 100lbs lighter than him.

When losing weight like Mo did, you're definitely going to lose some muscle mass. That's just the truth of it.

If he can put back on the 10-15 pound of muscle mass he probably lost this off season, you'll see a much stronger Mo.

I hope you're right, I'm not certain it's a muscle problem. I think its an attitude thing, either you dunk the ball, or you slam it home.

Or you have your shot blocked by a guard attempting a layup as a 7 footer like EE.

Mo usually does slam it home.

I would disagree. He rarely even attempts a dunk, especially in traffic. The only time he "slams it home", and by that I mean forcefully attempts a dunk with some ferociousness, would be when his path is wide open and uncontested.

Wonder if any of that is from his knee injury? Plus he's never had the greatest vertical.

The second half of the season he probably averaged at least one dunk a game. At least he attempts dunks. EE is taller, never been fat, never had a serious lower body injury and he never even considers dunking.

Roughly 14.3% of Mo's made FG's are slam dunks this year. Or, about one out of seven of his made FG's are slams.

Cheryl Reeve was on the radio the other morning, and she was making a good point about what productive players do. Efficiency is the key concept. Economy of motion and results. The slam dunk is good if it works and if you don't miss dunks or take so much time winding up that the defense can close on you and foul. The good players don't take unnecessary dribbles, don't work themselves away from the basket with a bunch of dance moves, don't waste time.
