NIT Championship: #1 Gophers vs. #1 SMU at MSG [ESPN, Thurs @ 6:00PM]

This means we are guaranteed Piper and Sandy now, right? RIGHT?!

Trophy presentation was on ESPN3. Lots of joy! Rick was out on the court with the team and his son. Good times!

Great way to end the season. I'm really stoked about the way our players improved over the course of the season - we've got a great coaching staff in place. This is definitely going to help with recruiting too!

Great game!!! I'm pissed the broadcast faded out to the 3 Point Contest. Wanted to see Austin hold a trophy. Maybe it will be frontpage in one of the fishwraps (joke)

Me too! :(

Yep - I watched it too. Great to see Austin get the Most Outstanding Player while his teammates chanted MVP!

It was on ESPN3; you can probably watch a replay.

Looks to me like #NITChamps is currently the 3rd highest worldwide Twitter trend.

It was on ESPN3, pretty cool ceremony.

Whatever Pitino said to the team during that timeout when we were down by 7 was a game changer. The game could have easily gotten out of hand there.

The win was all because of secondary defense! And shot fakes...

realistically, this championship proved the Gophers are, at the very very very least, one of the best 50 teams in the nation.

Hard to argue, like I said earlier... we beat everyone who were labeled "snubbed." Especially SMU... who beat UConn twice... That has to say something.

I'd say one of the top 40. Kind of rough around the edges, but they're all ours.

I'd say winning the NIT puts you mid 30s roughly. But that is just my opinion.

Yep, I'd say somewhere between 35-45 depending upon the competition. With SMU and Florida State, I'd say somewhere in the thirties.

I stupidly flipped channels and came back when we were only down two. How did we get those first five points?

Great! Thought he would get it if they won. Wonder if it will impact his draft potential? Maybe someone will pick him up in the second round.

Solid game and great to end the season with a win. Gophers battled through some tough spots and some horrible calls went against them and found a way to win again. Really wish Mav would have got in there and got to end his career with a good game but all of the Seniors definitely contributed to the NIT run and I want to thank them for choosing to be Gophers. We beat the 2 teams that were whining the most about not making the tournament and who people said got snubbed so does that mean our coaches, players, and fans should have been the ones whining about not making the tournament? Looking forward to seeing how much more some of these guys can develop under Pitino and staff with another full off-season.

Congrats to the team. Let's take the step off this and become a better team next year.

Hey, I missed Rick coaching from the stands. What did he do?

When we were down 7 without momentum, I thought the game was going to go South fast. Then we had Mathieu's three point play, a steal and a basket and then their offensive foul. Turned game around.

Lil Dre is the unsung hero of this game. He was the guy who made plays all over the court coming out of the timeout with the Gophers down 7. He had a 3 point play, a steal, and a tough mid range pullup J in transition where the Gophers cut the Mustangs lead to one in the span of less than a minute.

This is a big win for the program and another "how did they win that?" game for the Gophers considering how little we got out of our 4's and 5's in this game on both ends of the floor. Winning 5 games in a row is not an easy task against solid opposition. It's too bad that we played St Mary's and Southern Miss instead of Utah and Missouri as I think the casual fan would be more impressed with the NIT run in that scenario.

How can you not be happy for Austin Hollins? An amazing turnaround for that kid from where he was during the middle of the Big Ten season.

Mav helped us get here, I'm sure Richard will make sure he knows that.

Espn 3 is only online. Just checked and it said the NIT trophy presentation would be available on replay soon

Agreed. That was a huge sequence.
