Niko Medved Post Santa Clara Loss

Out of curiosity, which of those plentiful schools suffered through the beat down UMN suffered and then their new coach, this year, has radically turned the school around in the 1st year?

I am not saying that Minnesota cannot dig itself out. I am saying that expecting it to happen in the 1st year of a new coaches tenure is pretty unrealistic.
You have a tendency to make arguments against points that no one is making. Again, I am not blaming Niko. I agree we need to give him time to get out of the hole that the program is in.

My argument is simply this. . .the lack of a massive NIL program is not an excuse for incompetence.

The fact that we are in month 1 of Niko's tenure is 100% an excuse for incompetence. The dumpster fire of a program that he inherited is also a legit excuse for our current incompetence.

However, the idea that we cannot expect results, ever, because of our lack of a NIL program is a cop out.

Is Niko incompetent?
My problem with whiners (read USAF) is they think everything is incompetence. We were significantly under manned against Santa Clara. We lost the game, but won the 2nd half. Is Niko incompetent?

The Gopher football and hoops programs are hamstrung when it comes to trying to get to the level of the quality programs. It hasn't happened and likely won't considering the current climate.

So we accept mediocrity or less and then, at best, hope for a decent season when the stars line up in our favor.

Even if we were at full strength, Niko would have been hard pressed to field a competitive squad this season But he owns it.

Can he build a culture that will retain the majority of the returning players? That will be his challenge and a very important factor in building his program.
