Thanks!Marquette is only 90 miles to Chicago.

He's making $4M a year now at the Ville - can't see MN being a step up or even a lateral move based on their history there.Didn’t see him mentioned but the answer to your question would be “yes”.
A problem I see with your reasoning (from this & past posts) is that by the time a coach has the record to proves elite performance to you, only the Blue Bloods can afford him. They do for the very best of the best. IE, guys we'll never have a shot at.
The sweet spot for us is mid-majors. Proven enough to show their potential, but not done so well off the charts and at a borderline high-major program that only the biggest fish and swoop in.Thus the idea that you need to hire these guys early in their career, when they are showing the signs of elite potential.
I say we don't, might as well name Doogie AD.View attachment 12130
Has been outspoken about wanting the job since Pitino was fired, I say give him a shot.
No.Indeed, I am correct on this issue.
The issue tool is referring to in this case is his contention you needn't cite sources when you rip off a reporter's work and present it as your own.No.
You have opinions you assume are correct.
I am of the opinion that Gates is the best candidate. I came to that conclusion from spending at least 10 hours listening to podcasts where he was a guest, reading interviews and outside opinion pieces on him, etc.
I am not arrogant enough to claim that I know that I am right, but, you do you.
Yes, often. And with a high percentage, I turn out to be wrong. You have opinions you assume are correct.
Talk, talk, talk.I came to that conclusion from spending at least 10 hours listening to podcasts where he was a guest, reading interviews and outside opinion pieces on him, etc.
A message board post on a free, public message board? You're being a tool, quite frankly.when you rip off a reporter's work present it as your own.
Firing Pitino entailed considerable risk. He's just as good or better coach than the replacement names being mentioned. I wish he had not underperformed this year as the team was looking good for next season.
We might miss the big dance!!1!What’s the risk? We finish 14th instead of 13th next season?
Well ... there it is.-Smith has already met with Utah, they are expected to pay in the $2.75-3.25 million range.
Kenny Mayne?
Plain Jane?Billy Zane?
Yes. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.Stop
As the world turns!I’m starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel where I’m not spending an hour catching up on this thread after taking a few hours off from it.
I’m then looking forward to spending hours catching up on people complaining about the new hire or staying it was their first choice the entire time.
It be would be least surprising for Smith to get the job. I know there were rumblings last year that Smith was the first interview before Covid shut down the season and firing. He really seems like the safest choice so it makes sense.Shooter weighs in:
-Gopher fans pining for Eric Musselman, but U waited too long.
-Now Brian Dutcher is people's choice.
-Hearing whispers that Coyle's early choice is Craig Smith.
-Smith has already met with Utah, they are expected to pay in the $2.75-3.25 million range.
-Porter Moser may wind up at Creighton if Greg McDermott resigns. He's an alumni.
-Possible assistants for Dutcher would include Ben Johnson, Ryan Saunders and Barry Wohler.
-Anthony Grant could be in line for Miami job if that opens up, and is a candidate at Marquette.
-Less expensive options for Gophers include Howard Eisley, Sam Mitchell and Dennis Gates.
-Sam Mitchell credited with recruiting James Wiseman at Memphis.
-Jarvis Omersa could end up playing basketball and football at St. Thomas.

Based on online comments, a good amount of University of Minnesota men’s basketball fans want Eric Musselman to replace fired Richard Pitino as coach. But the university probably waited two years t…www.twincities.com

My opinion: we need to pony up, match Utah, and hire Smith. There's a reason they'd offer so much: he's worth it. If they didn't, someone else will. Well ... there it is.
That's the "out", if they want to do it like that. Utah outpays Minnesota.
Take a big risk on Gates because he's cheap .... because of course he is, hasn't proven jack squat.

Let me help you out here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Survivorship_biasi would have loved to hear your opinion on Chris Beard and Scott Drew if we hired them from their previous stop would have been WWIII on here.
But what does his family want? And/or, what does he want for his family? Said in USU videos that they love it out West. The good news is Smith wants the Minnesota job more than he wants the Utah job.
Was he fired? I expect him to be back at Texas...Shaka will likely be the next Marquette coach given his local roots.
