Ok the shaka thread ran is course and everything i am hearing he is out.. So if that is the case i want flip bad... So lets get this rolling pulling for flip...

I keep hearing he is very intrested in the job... I keep picturing his staff with lots of guys we would love JB Bickerstaff.. TT... and who knows who else.... bring in one national guy who is a great recruiter and we are set..

We would not have worry about him leaving for a better job if things go well...

He is through and through minnesota maroon and gold... He is great in x and o something tubby was not..

I think we get 2 or all 3 of the minn kids.. and i think with minnesota being so talented in the coming years we have such a great chance at landing most of them with flip

lets make it happen.

Don't forget Ryan.

I am totally on board in getting Flip as coach. Make it happen NT.

Flip vs Grant?

Flip....I hope Norwood understands that Grant would be a huge disapointment. His offense (statistically) is actually worse than Tubby's..... ugggh......
Grant has been mediocre at Bama....Please hire flipper......

I will not be reporting any news about Flip being in LA or not. I am pouting because I am certain he is our candidate and therefore you all are going to be left wondering if Flip is in LA or not.

Flip does it for me - remember the pre-game show under Musselman???

I like Flip and sure wouldn't be disappointed if he's the guy. I think he's older, but in this case, it's not the age, it's the mileage, and he sure doesn't strike me as a guy who's burned out on the game. Jim Larrañaga took over at Miami when he was 61 or so. If it's Flip, I do wonder what the long term plan is. Is he there for 5 years? Longer? I guess it just depends on how things go.

I will never get the reasoning of hiring a coach because he won't leave. Don't worry about a guy maybe leaving someday, hire the best available. If a coach has a better offer someday, it means they made your program better and more attractive for the next guy.

Oh he'll leave - when we fire him and buy out his contract.

Saunders was always the best candidate. Experienced, avid. If he'll take the position, it would sure rekindle my interest in Gopher basketball.

I also think flip brings in the dollars needed to build the practice gym. I also don't think we will have to overpay to get him.. I just think if we bring in a no name the fan base is going to be super disappointed with that.

No i saying that because flip wont be looking over his shoulder for the next best thing even if he is winning big ten titles. And yes after shaka i believe flip is the next best choice.

I like Flip too, and a big reason is that I think if he came here he'd want to retire from here...I'm picturing a situation where he comes in, brings some honest passion for Gopher basketball, and is willing to do things like put in the work with donors, groom a good successor when he starts thinking about retiring, and remains a face/voice for the program for as long as he's alive.
It's obviously not as important as winning basketball games, but that kind of situation can be really valuable for a program when it works right.

why can't dan barrero get flip on the last few days with all of this action going on?? I am sure he has tired i am guessing he knows where he stands on the this process.. I think if he is not in the mix he would have given some insight.

Probable -- he's been fired from his last three HC jobs.

In that respect he is qualified for the job. Might have to just let that one go. It is inevitable.

So after we fire him who is the M Man the homers demand next? McHale? And do we get an asskick thread like Shaka first? I sure hope so. Makes it all worthwhile.

Along with being someone that seriously wants to be in MN...

Grant is twice the candidate that Flip is.

If this were anywhere but MN, everyone would prefer Grant to Flip.

Grant inherited a program that was REALLY struggling (20-30 over the last 3 years in SEC), he has gone 39-27 in the SEC, he has recruited well. Flip has been run out of the NBA.

When you f*** up the hiring process as much as this athletic department has you want people that create stability.

Flip would coach here at least 6-7 years I would guess, and Larranaga looks a lot older than Flip does.

Flip would need a staff with a big man coach, a recruiter, and a defense coach. So far TT and J B are both guards/wings. Needs more diversity.

Alright boys let's get this thread moving. We need to break 85 pages at least for the golden boy Flip.

I seriously am thinking NT had no plan...we're going to end up with some unknown assistant and be told he was a Villa 7 star who will turn this thing around...FML
