Really not that surprised. Pitino has already said that the game is going to be much faster and that it's based on players being REALLY conditioned and in shape.

Per Darren Wolfson, Steve has been released from his position as the Gophers' bb S&C Coach. I believe some players are seeing the beginning of the end for their careers at the 'U'. The new mantra for coach Pitino; 'In shape you play, out of shape you might want to look elsewhere to play basketball.'

What makes you think this means Pitino didn't want Felde? Maybe Felde wants to go elsewhere and needs out of his contract? Or maybe Pitino has a guy he prefers working with? Doesn't mean Felde was no good- could just mean either he wanted to go, or Pitino wants someone else.
