New Coach Short List

Eric Henderson seems good and has had some good players, finds some diamonds in the rough. He would be good to transition into a conference like Mountain West. We need a bigger splash. He's more of a higher risk Niko.

My buddy wants Chris Mack and his overall record is impressive at three different locations. He's only making 1.1 mil for five years at Charleston. I could get behind this hire.
I'm not sure why Mack isn't getting more play for any of these open jobs. I think he'd be an excellent choice.

You guys can (and should!) discuss this as much as you want, create as many threads as you want.

It's going to be Medved.

That's the safe pick.

After going out on a limb and gut feel, that Coyle did with Ben Johnson, he's going to go with a safe pick.

It's Medved. Get your minds used to the idea

Medved would be like getting socks from Santa.

This program desperately needs a more energizing, dynamic hire than just another provincial coach IMO.

If nothing else, he has a better resume' than Clem, Monson, Pitino and Johnson at the time of their hiring (if CSU wins today).

Okay...like getting Sponge Bob socks from Santa. 😉

Medved appears to be a fine coach but he simply does nothing for me. Honestly, I'd rather have Tauer.

I will admit that my hopes for the next coach are probably unrealistic, but that's exactly what this program needs.
Whenever I ask my older daughter what she wants for Christmas, it's...socks. 😅

I carry a lot of guilt from my childhood. For the first 16 years of my life, I never thanked my parents or gave them credit for all of the wonderful Christmas morning presents until the truth was finally revealed.

As you get older, you will come to understand that a good pair of socks is a great gift. Best thing I got this year, and I ordered them myself bc mom was afraid she would get the wrong ones haha.

Do you have any in mind who meet your criteria?
Fair question...but my "criteria" is solely based on personal opinion. The U will not commit financially to building the program and that in itself makes it nearly impossible to attain the level of coach that revitalizes my passion for the team.

Wade, Mack and McCollum would all give me a little spark. Medved does not.

Niko is more than likely the best candidate that is interested in the job. I'm concerned that he might also be interested in others (like Iowa).

But has experience at several jobs, has multiple NCAA trips at a non-elite mid-major. And while it isn't the first or second criteria, the local ties are helpful in attracting and signing him at a price we could afford. His salary at CSU as cited here is comparable to what Minnesota was paying Johnson. Without a hometown discount he might be tough to get, to be honest, especially since he will likely be in demand elsewhere.

They can pay him more than they paid Ben. If you're going to give basketball a bigger slice of Pj's pie to compete you can't cheap out on the coach. The new coach will make $3 million + IMO.

To repeat:

1. Will Wade
2. Will Wade
3. Will Wade
4. Will Wade
5. Ben McCollum
6. Alan Huss
7. Ryan Odom
8. Will Wade
9. Will Wade
10. Will Wade

I'll add

11. Niko Medved

For me it does...and again, I might be unrealistic.

This is always the correct answer...we just might have differing opinions on what we need to do to achieve this.
As a fan we all have unrealistic expectations.

Last time I wanted Coyle to go after Anthony Grant or Dennis Gates.

Have no clue if Grant was even approached but IIRC the reporting was Gates declined to interview.

Nothing wrong with taking your swing but Minnesota is an ok job not a great job.

The pool of coaches interested is going to be limited unless the $$$ is too good to pass up and this is where the unrealistic expectations come in.
