I did notice that most of the people who commented about the Bits of Wooden Chair trophy thought it was cool, and that it was the best trophy they currently play for. They liked that it came about naturally instead of having some vaguely patriotic trophy thrust upon them like for the Iowa and Wisconsin games.
 

Second post I read under the "Gopherhole" thread:

The message here in Minnesota on talk shows is that Nebraska is no longer Nebraska. They have it chalked up as a win. Hard to argue with them other than the Gophers have yet to prove anything in my mind.

Can't fault them for trying to stir the pot and get people amped over the matchup. I'm not even offended by it because it's so false...at least I haven't seen or heard anyone overly confident about Saturday.

If we were 6-0 and clicking on all cylinders, this could be at least plausible. There is no way anyone today is chalking up this game as a win already.

Maybe I said it? I mean I don't remember saying it, but it sounds like me.
 








I actually kind of like Nebraska and their fanbase - I have only had positive interactions with them. My only beef is that they keep losing to wisc.
 



I had a great time at the Nebraska game last year. My biggest complaint was that they were too nice. I was expecting a little ribbing from them after the win, but they were just congratulatory.
 

Looking forward to the game. Was up there two years ago and other than the results had a great time. Our board is a subscription board but if a couple of you posters want to interact over there I can give you a free membership for the rest of the season as long as you don't gloat too much if you win. :) Send me an email to [email protected] if you want to take me up on the offer.

Also, it does suck that we don't beat Wisconsin more often. Would love to go into Madison next year and steam roll them.

Would love to take you up on the offer, but I have a hair trigger and do not want to chance insulting people I respect. That would be Nebraskans. All my experiences with Nebraskans has been great. I still smart from the spankings we always got from the Huskers back in "my day."

You really do need to start dominating the BADgers.
 


My lake cabin is in Minnesota but the owners are Cornhusker fans. The last time I went was last August and it was all decked out in Nebraska gear. I just told them it was a nice reminder of a team we have beat 2 years in a row. :cool02:

I've been going there for years and they are really nice people. Cozy Cove in Dent MN

This - by far the best fans in the BIG. I've been to Lincoln for both our loss and our win. Nebraska fans treated me the same, win or lose......and that treatment was FANTASTIC!

+1 Same. Fans went out of their way to be gracious in their loss last time we went there, and went out of their way to confirm that Wisconsin fans are the worst!
 

Roger that on the Wiscy fans being jerks. The first time I was in Lincoln a Husker fan told me that their experience in Wisconsin earlier that season was terrible. Said they were rude, foul-mouthed, etc.
 

They seem to be the program in the Big 10 we have the most in common with as far as winning national titles goes even if our's were in the black and white TV era and most with leather helmets. Like other fans have said their fans besides Ohio State have been the most gracious to us as visitors, the couple times we have played them recently. Not the vitriol and silliness we have with the team to the south and the Skunks to the East.
