NBA Draft - Where/which Gophers will get Drafted?

I guess that new GM likes the Gophers--Rodney has a deal there as well.

Not sure if this has been posted this morning, but this was tweeted by @JakePavorsky:

Sixers have extended a Summer League invite to Minnesota PF Trevor Mbakwe. Has a few offers on table. Would imagine Sixers are frontrunners.

If Mbakwe was 2 years younger, didnt have the knee injury, and didn't have all the off the court issues, he could have been a first rounder is this draft.
Indiana was missing toughness on that team. Oladipo is the only tough player. They were missing a physical presence to play next to Zeller and Watford-both finese players, even someone like Ravenel at Ohio st. would have made a world of difference.

Trevor joined the Sixers with Rodney but did not sign a contract, it will make watching the summer league a lot easier with them both being on the same team, does anyone know when the summer league starts on NBATV?

A couple of things here Doc:
1. How do you know if Richard will do better? His recruiting has been average at best. Tubby has done a fantastic job at TT.
2. Both Rodney and Trevor have been invited by the Sixer's. Would it because they were coached by Tubby? Do you remember a few months ago, when Austin's dad said that Tubby's players know how to play defense?
Let's be fair here.

What in the world are you talking about? Are facts important to you, or do you just say things without even thinking? First of all, it's far too small of a sample size to judge either coach's recruiting right now, but even from what they've both done in their limited time at their schools, how can you possibly say Tubby has done fantastic right after saying Pitino has done average at best? On Rivals Texas Tech has 1 unranked 3-star and 3 0-stars. Pitino has 2 3-stars. Would you care to explain your logic there for me? Also, I'd bet more than $1000 that Pitino gets a better 2014 class than Tubby. It would be the easiest and most stress-free bet I've ever made.

By the way I'm not even one of the "Tubby haters," but if you say something with absolutely no logic like you just did, expect to be called out for it.

Please don't consider yourself a hot shot by stating some meaningless reports. Alex Foster is an an excellent but raw recruit. He picked a Juco as did Richard. The other 2 PGs that Tubby picked were not rated for many reasons. The one from CA was recruited by a bunch of schools but chose TT because of Tubby. The last unranked player that you mentioned is from a very small town in Texas who calls his coach sir, meaning he is willing to work very hard and will take crap from an old coach. In addition to these guys, there is a player there who is like a twin brother of Blake H. He can shoot very well. Having said this, I really hope that UofM and TT surprize people this season. I just don't like it when poeple are not fair to previous staff.

You still didn't explain how Tubby is doing a "fantastic job" while Pitino is doing "average at best." The only thing you've really established is that you have a substantial bias towards Tubby and are willing to give him and his recruits the benfit of doubt because of it. Have you seen any of those guys play? No? Then how do you know they are better than Pitino's recruits, who on average have more stars on Rivals? The only thing unfair here is you giving Tubby far more credit than Pitino for no actual reason other than the fact that you like him. For the record, I like Tubby. I think he's a good guy and I wished it could have worked out for him here, but it didn't. I'm not trying to trash him. The things you are saying just don't make sense.

I have yet to see Tubby's recruits play.
I have seen a little bit of Pitino's.
Not especially impressed so far, but He hasnt had a chance to get going yet.

RP basically brought kids with him that went to FIU or were going to FIU.
I'm geussing B10 ball might be above at least 1 of these recruits pay grade.

Rivals star ratings are not very reliable in my experience, too many politics involved with the ratings.

That being said, from what I hear about Pitino's aggressive recruiting style and ability to relate to young players because of his youth and fast-paced coaching style.

I cant help but believe he will be able to recruit a lot of talent in the future, while recruiting was not Tubby's forte while at the U of M.

You are an idiot, sir. This is a Gophers' message board. If you want, feel free to go make a message board for Orlando Smith and post on there sir.

Cool beans, Saul. Congrats on your upcoming 5 conference wins! Did Tubby bother to hire all of his assistants yet or is he having a hard time making a decision???!!!!

Seriously....do you call every Gopherholer that says anything good about Tubby Saul? You need new material.

No kidding, mattw1076 calls you idiot and then jamalo calls you Saul. A few weeks ago, these people were talking about Richard bringing a bunch of 5-star players here. They even started calling him coach Pitino not just Richard. Today, when you question Richards recruiting, you are either idiot or Saul?

I guess everybody's entitled to their opinion, but that's a strange, jaundiced and anti-Gopher take on things. I usually don't argue for arguing's sake, but I feel the need to stick up for my team here.

Which brings up the question, why do we have so many anti-Gopher posters on the Gopher basketball board? Is this normal, or are we just screwed up here?

BG, it is a simple case of fans' prerogative due to the fact that the fans know more than the Coach, know more about reffing, and are better players than those that suit up. It happens all over, at all levels, and is amptly displayed on GH game threads. If you don't believe me, start following them, and then follow the melt down on GH after a loss.

Even the Mods agree, because they delete many, many, many meltdown comments before anyone sees them.

You said it, "your team". Anybody who questions anything regarding bad moves by coaching and AD, is considered "anti-Gopher" by you and your team. Meanwhile, the rest of us watch this team with open mind and raise questions that seem to be logical not emotional. I have not seen one single upgrade from last coaching group. If that is considered, anti-Gopher statement, then you and your team need to have another meeting to get ready for more anti-Gophers to show up when the season starts (if we don't see any changes on the court also).

In fairness, we also haven't seen one game since the last coaching group. Contrary to Coach Brewster's opinion, the games are won on the court/field/ice, not on the recruiting trail. As always, I withhold judgment on the coach until I have some in game performance upon which to judge them.

How exactly are you determining this? Please be specific. Also, I'm still waiting for your logic on why Tubby has done "fantastic" at TT and Pitino has done "average at best" here.

Looks like Rodney had a nice first game today with the 76's summer team. Second leading scorer, had an ally op dunk, but missed his 3 pointers. He started as a guard.

the stat sheet is misleading, Rodney had 13 points, not 12, they screwed it up, he also had 2 blocks, he also played 26 minutes but trevor only played 12, he did have 5 points and 4 rebounds within those 12 minutes though which is pretty good, both started, it seems the philly staff is alot more intrigued by rodney then trevor with those types of minutes played, they play tomorrow at 12:00, wednesday at 12:00, thursday at 4:00 all on NBATV

not sure if anyone is watching today but rod started and has 10 points in 10 minutes after the first quarter!!

I'm DVRing the game today. Is Royce White playing for the Sixers, or is he too busy fathering children and being a sociopath?

In the games I have been watching he hasn't been playing. I think today is when all of the nba trades ultimately go through so maybe we will find out if he makes the team out of training camp?

Rodney led the sixers in scoring with 12 points and 2 blocks today, Trevor wasn't even on the bench and I haven't seen Royce either, I think Rodney has a good shot to make the team but I doubt Trevor will at this point

Trevor was going to play with another team in the Vegas summer league so maybe he already took off for that, not sure when it starts.

Awesome news for Rodney he's really trying to prove people wrong. Good for him.
