I guess that’s where we disagree, I think the only thing holding someone back is themselves. I’ve done it to myself. Messed up my college career. Was totally on me, I don’t blame anyone but me. Blaming someone or something else, even if it might be systemic, doesn’t actually fix anything. It just takes away the feeling of personal responsibility. Everyone has the chance to make excuses. Everyone has something they could blame for why they didn’t achieve something, or why they can’t succeed. But I agree mentorship is a better way to help people than throwing money at them, hoping they’ll do the right thing with that money.

I was only making one claim, that more soldiers died than slaves. Never made a claim as to the suffering, and it’s really not relevant to anything I said. I must ask though, life is the most important thing right? So does suffering matter more than living or dying?
