This is not to mention anything about the thousands upon thousands who died as a direct result of slave rebellions.
Listen, if you want to pat yourself on the back for pointing out that more people were killed by gunshot wounds in the Civil War than during the hundreds of years of US slavery, that’s your choice. But doing so ignores the horrifying treatment and miserable living conditions that lead to millions upon millions of premature deaths. Deaths that only came after a literal lifetime of abuse.
Seriously, I’d strongly suggest picking a different hill to die on.
