Mississippi State RB Kylin Hill: "Either change the flag or I won’t be representing this State anymore & I meant that .. I’m tired "

This isn't about "wokeness" or whatever other strawman you want to come up with. This is about ignorance, plain and simple.

You asked "How many slaves died during this countries years of slavery vs. the total number of Americans that died in the civil war?"

It is an objective fact that there were far more premature deaths as a direct result of American slavery than there were premature deaths as a direct result of the Civil War. Plain and simple, you're completely wrong, and seem unwilling to admit it--deciding to dig your heels in instead. You're not "acknowledging stats", you're making things up and using that fiction to make an incredibly vague (yet clearly stupid) point.
Is it an objective fact that more slaves died than civil war soldiers? I don’t think it is. You seem really sure of yourself though.

1593385727759.jpegso is 425,000 more, or less than the estimated 618,222-1.7 million?

There are over 1200 known white supremacists groups in the United States. Body cams would help but only if these idiots would turn them on. Thankfully cell phone cameras have been able to bring up the truth. Pictures don't lie. However here in MN the head of the police union says, there is another side to these pictures. Give me a break.
Great research on the 1200. They do not just hate blacks, far from it. How many gangs are there by color. How many crimes do they commit. We have a huge collective problem. Who leads us, how are laws applied, how is punishment.

You mean like how people have to go to court where both sides explain there points and reasonings before they are found guilty or not guilty. Yes that's a crazy concept.?

And make no mistake, thug culture is idolized and loved.
Yeah it is. I see 8 year olds listening to thug music and rapping along to the songs. Swearing included. My wife works at South Saint Paul high school in the EBD (emotional behavioral disorder) room and has 15 year olds telling her about how they don’t want to go to college, they just plan on being rappers and drug dealers. A lot of these kids she works with have drug dealer parents, some of them have heroin addict parents. One girl lives with her grandma (and the grandma has custody) because her mom has been in and out of jail for drugs. the mom got out of jail and was home for a few days, so the girl went to school wearing her moms jacket. Went into the pocket of it and pulls out a needle and a syringe. I guess she just immediately started bawling. This is the thug culture that is becoming more and more prevalent

Of these 1200 groups, how many members do each of them have? What influences do these 1200 groups make in society? Are they for sure white supremacist groups? Or do they get that label from the SJW’s that call just about anyone that is white, a white supremacist? And well, pictures actually don’t an entire story...CNN, and other media outlets, have been busted on that countless times.

so is 425,000 more, or less than the estimated 618,222-1.7 million?

Let's parse this completely-unattributed blurb, shall we?

150-250k dead in the two years following emancipation (later simplified to 200k for the final tally)
15% of 480k died in transit, rounded to 75k.
30% of 480k in slave raids, rounded to 150k.

Yes, indeed that does add to 425k. Congrats on finding an unnamed source that presents a number that conforms to what you're trying to find.

It's just too bad that it ignores the millions of premature deaths of enslaved people with a patently-false hand-wave of "Death rates once in America tracked those of the rest of Americans". I've already shown that this is completely wrong. Life expectancy for enslaved people was half of what it was for whites. And frankly, life expectancy shouldn't really matter anyway. Death is the denial of a free and self-directed life. Half a million people were denied that life the minute they were taken against their will to the US, and millions more were denied that life the instant that they were born into slavery.

What kind of source counts the number of deaths due to the delivery of slaves to the US, as well as the deaths directly after the abolition of slavery, but ignores the hundreds of years in between? I'm sure you were excited to find some suspect math that confirms what you were hoping to find, but please put a little more critical thought into these things.

Hey do you mind if I ask, who took these people agains their will? Was it other rival tribes in Africa? I think so. Did they sell them to places all over? I think so. Why don’t you ask African tribes why they sold their own people into slavery?

you take issue with my stats because they don’t support your narrative. That sucks.

also, when do you believe slavery started in the U.S.? Honest question

The first Africans enslaved within the continental United States arrived via Santo Domingo to the San Miguel de Gualdapecolony (most likely located in the Winyah Bayarea of present-day South Carolina), founded by Spanish explorer Lucas Vázquez de Ayllónin 1526.

So sad. Yet so predictable.
Finish high school. Don’t have kids when you can’t support them. Don’t get incarcerated. All choices.

Do you think the involvement of African tribes in the slave trade is some novel revelation? Of course I'm aware, and it's sickening. It's also a completely different matter from whatever idiotic point you were trying to make. Quit the strawman arguments, they're a bad look even for you.

you take issue with my stats because they don’t support your narrative. That sucks.

Are they your stats? You posted a screenshot with no attribution.

And no, I don't take issue with them because they don't support my narrative. I take issue with them because they selectively remove the largest data set, and you're using it as fodder for your incorrect claim.

also, when do you believe slavery started in the U.S.? Honest question

If you want to nit-pick at whether the ship in 1619 was or was not carrying enslaved people because your favorite neo-con Youtuber said so, it doesn't get pushed back any farther than the mid-1600s. Tell me, when do you think slavery started in the (pre) US?

Somewhere mjfelton and his fearless orange leader are crying inside about this news of their "beautiful" Confederate symbol quickly losing yet another battle.

Also, I just saw a black artist with a bandana and dreads singing on TV. Surely yet another "thug" according to our resident "but I'm not racist" 28-year-old know-it-all.

The shit in this thread would be laughable if it wasn't ACTUALLY what some sad small person believed. There are trolls on this board and then there is mjfelton15. The trolls are those who just enjoy being contrary and brewing trouble on a message board. But felton is an example of someone who is poisoning the world with hate and prejudice. He just tries to disguise it as "informed opinion" or "fact" because he met a person or heard an anecdote. There is no other explanation for someone who operates under such generalizations and literally cannot stop himself from spewing lines from the same racist manifesto on every thread he posts on.

Felton, just understand, regardless of how you try and portray yourself in the real world or whenever you actually leave your safety bubble, you are not a good person. The good thing is that the universe has a way of fleshing these things out over time. It's called karma and it always finds a way to even the score. So if and when bad things happen to you in your life, its not coincidence or "bad luck". It's just karma evening the score on you. No amount of autographs or pictures with black athletes is going to change that you're putting your poison into the world on a regular basis.

Enjoy the world changing around you while you sit back like Billy Bob Thornton in "Monster's Ball" - a dinosaur watching his kind slowly go extinct.

Personally I believe this flag should be changed. However I don't live there it's not my choice. I don't agree with toppling statue I believe there should be a plaque there that explains the history. But I think our history is important to everyone it reminds us of our past.

This thread can close now. The flag will be changed. Miss lawmakers voted in favor of the change.

People supporting the "right" to express hatred, lose another battle.

Progress wins another.

I have no desire to go down a long rabbit hole with you. You're not worth my time.

I needed to read this. I need to put felton on my ignore list too. Seeing him in here makes me embarrassed that we are both (allegedly) Gophers fans.

I think he's legit a fan and I think he legit has an undergrad degree from the U.

Still embarrassing to have to share that with someone who holds such gross opinions.

I think you're right about him being a fan. But he definitely did not go to the U. He said on another thread that he went to Mankato.

If so, my mistake.

Certainly, no one here is suggestion only U alumni are allowed to be fans. All are welcome, to enjoy the state’s DI teams.

Just do your own research on the world history of slavery. There you will find who traded , sold and bought to whom. You eventually will get to 1619 and find out the history and brutality towards, in this case darker colored humans. You will find some of had ancestors who fought against slavery and who laid down their lives to free enslaved people. You will also find people who fought to keep things the way they were. Some people to this day day resist change. It is likely a exercise in futility as the only constant in the Universe is change. Forever grateful to come from a family and a community that believed in not judging people on pigmentation, or creed and religion but on deeds and merits.

Yep. What it is is a couple decades of the entirely wrong people, a lot of horrible people, having the most kids.

I also believe in not judging based on pigmentation or creed. I like to judge on whether or not a person contributes to society. Not a fan of lazy sack o’ shits that leech and complain when things aren’t perfectly equal for them, regardless of how much effort others are putting in compared to them.

Oh poor you. it’s embarrassing to share my Gopher fan hood with such sobbing little girls like you and WriterGoph. Both of you should cry some more. You have no idea what a racist or a bigot is. I’m not one of them, and you’re fighting the wrong people

That is all good but there must be a more of a critical thinking approach to get into some of the ways society holds some people back, like systemic real estate rules, laws and deeds. The idea of the best kinds of leaders is to help people become better than they thought they could be. Often we apply the wrong kind of assistance. To able bodied and mind we provide money instead of mentorship and opportunity. Studies show the obvious, when we mentor people when they are young they often rise to great heights. That is across all color and culture.
