Minnesota’s Corey Hetherman new defensive coordinator at Miami

And how has that worked out? In the last 10 full seasons (excluding 2020), who has more wins, The U or Miami?
People don't care about wins, recency bias impacts everything. Miami has been exponentially more relevant than the real U due to the late 90s/early 2000s alone. All we've done that people can remember is limp into the Outback Bowl. And that's not meant to be insulting, we haven't impressed anyone nationally outside of our fan base and f as within our own conference.

Ohio State can’t even keep their DC in this new environment.

And outside of our own fanbase, no one really remembers or cares about that Outback victory anyways.

Of course you want to exclude 2020 where Miami went 8-3, and the Gophers only won 3, that's the only way Minnesota has more over that time period.

Including 2020, Miami has 77 wins, excluding it's 75 wins.

Including 2020, Minnesota has 73 wins, excluding it's 78.

Either way it's pretty even. And that time period is considered Minnesota's best since the 50s-60s, while it's considered Miami's worst since the 70s.

Same position. You calling them promotions because they got more money?
I think it’s silly to call it a lateral move just because the title stays the same. Makes you guess at the reasoning when obviously the moves come with a substantial pay raise 9 out of 10 times.

Yes. If they weren’t getting more money, they wouldn’t be leaving.

Miami has top 5 NIL. Cam Ward was one of the highest paid players in the country this season and will be the #1 pick in the NFL draft. They have also won a national title in the last 24 years. They are not comparable.

Michigan St also has more money, 3 B1G titles, and a 4 team CFP appearance over the last 15 years. Also not comparable.

I'm not going to argue the semantics over using the term 'promotion' or 'raise'. The assistants that left PJ's staff did so to make significantly more money. No one has left to escape his culture. Those assistants knew what they were getting into when they were hired.
You should hire yourself out as PJ’s PR guy.

I am still stuck on catastrophic home insurance rates. So I looked it up. I was surprised by the relatively LOW rates that came back for a $500000 home came back at 2600 annual cost. In which case, Heatherman got a huge pay boost and I wish him well.

I am now reexamining why I shouldn't just get in the car now and buy a home in Miami today and become a Miami fan.

That's in line with what we pay down here in Sarasota area. That's why I was skeptical of $2M quote for a $8M home. But again, don't live on a barrier island.

Skepticism is what keeps me grounded and sane. It's an undervalued virtue that deserves more recognition. However, on this forum, it often morphs into the relentless force behind heated debates, turning discussions into a chaotic mess. Hence, residing on a barrier island...

Although if MN got to play Miami's schedule, who knows.

so the DC from Ohio State moves to Penn State - for a 3-year deal at $3.1-million Per Year.

the entire assistant coaching salary pool for MN for 2025 is $5.5-million. (or it was reported at that figure - how it changes with Hetherman leaving, Collins to DC and Kane joining the staff....idk.)

in 2024, based on publicly reported data, Ohio State had an assistant coaching salary pool of $11.425-million. Michigan was at $9.384-million; Oregon $8.225-million and Iowa $7.9-million.

Penn State, due to state laws in Pennsylvania, is not required to reveal salary amounts, so no idea what PSU's salary pool is - but it's a good bet it's up there with the top of the conference.

Miami has underperformed but that doesn't mean it is a worse job.

I would be a lot of money that Miami will win a National Championship again before the Gophers.

Obviously it needs to be higher than that since you tell us every day how PJ sucks up all the money in the AD and that is why basketball will never win

You are being obtuse and you know it. On the national level who is better known? Who is more likely to be ranked? If a recruit is offered the same deal from both where are they likely going. (assuming they dont have a tie to the school of some kind.

Miami may not reach their expectations but they are on a different level than we are and to pretend otherwise is not living in the real world.

Is it possible that Trump buys Greenland. He has the army shovel off the ice to get to the minerals. The oceans rise, what, 10 to 15 feet, making Miami another Amsterdam. I would bet on this before I would take Miami.

I am guessing we have different opinions on Miami... I put them in the same category as a school like Texas and Michigan. Both of those programs were down but you get the right coach and you are right in the thick of it.

I do think the biggest issue with Miami is their stadium issue. A lot of us feel moving to the dome killed the atmosphere for 20+ years for the Gophers and that was literally down the street and across the bridge. The Hurricanes currently play about 45 minutes from their campus. Can't imagine we would have any student atmosphere if we played our games in Northfield!

I would have loved that, could have made the trip home, hosted a tailgate in my backyard and rode my moped to the games.

Laird Stadium would probably would have needed to be expanded. Capacity 7,500. Can probably get another 2,500 standing around the field.

If you do the same thing and it pays much more it’s a better job. I don’t think Miami’s has any higher expectations for their d coordinators than Minnesota does. Yes as a program they have higher expectations as far as wins, but they are in an easier conference and have more access to local talent.
