Minnesota’s Corey Hetherman new defensive coordinator at Miami

How dare you try to put limits on what people can make. We all win! America!!

Like them or hate them, at least they are doing it through business. Maybe shady, maybe not, but through business. I have more concern for all of these people, regardless of political party:

She makes less than $200,000 annually when she is speaker, less than that when she is not. She was worth around $30 million in 2008. Now she is worth 8x that amount.....

I wouldn’t have any issue working under someone who’s dedicated to shaping young men into responsible citizens and strong individuals. When was the last time you heard about a player who spent 3-5 years under Fleck making headlines for the wrong reasons? If it has happened, it’s rare. The positive aspects of the culture far outweigh the negatives
All that is true about PJ’s teams and the kids on same, but a good chunk of folks wouldn’t want to live and breathe FAMILY, et al all day. Seemed to be an issue the first three or four years to a larger extent with significant coaching turnover, but I still think it is the root cause of turnover from time to time and probably will always be.

Which coaches left and didn't get a promotion?

It was only a matter of time before we started to hear players/coaches being poached by "Heather." Indiana show the quickest way to change culture is to bring in coaches and players that are bought into a system and can lead from within. Will be a interesting few months (next few weeks in coaching and the Spring transfer portal). Hope PJ has tightened things up.

Paup, Addae, West I don't think left for promotions. Although Addae got promoted at West Virginia two years later. Werriner left to go to Michigan same job probably alot more money so we count that as a lateral move?

Paup was let go. Addae lateral move (he changed teams every year for a while). I don't even remember West. But basically none of these guys left due to culture. They were let go or made upward moves.

I'm guessing Paup didn't really fit from a culture perspective. I don't necessarily view that as an indictment on Fleck it's more seeing a problem and eliminating it. Same thing with Brick Haley, although he just wasn't a very good coach or recruiter

Would seem like an odd move. This is his alma mater, PJ coached him so knows the culture. Why would he make a lateral move?
If it pays more it’s not a lateral move even if the title and role is the same. But I’d be surprised if he were able to poach Winston.

My brother-in-law's boss has a house in Siesta Key and was told by a private insurer that it would cost $2M/yr for homeowners insurance. It's getting out of hand.
Must be a helluva house. I live down here, and yes, insurance is expensive, but I'm paying far less than 1% of our house value for homeowners insurance. That said, I'm inland and not on a barrier island but I'm skeptical of that number.

Of course. The economics of hurricanes is more than the cost of the homes destroyed. The numbers add up. The pool has to include business, charities and government buildings and infrastructure. The pool pays for all of these things. Heatherman has walked into a financial nightmare without even realizing it. I don't believe he received a pay increase. I think he broke even.

We just lost our last two DC's over the last two years to promotions.

The coaches who have left PJs staff left for better opportunities, not because they disliked PJ's culture.
Same position. You calling them promotions because they got more money?

I don't think most would call that a promotion, it's a lateral move that pays more.

So when PJ became the head coach of Minnesota, that wasn't a promotion? It was the same title with more pay.

Or are you still trying to convince yourself that Miami is a comparable program to Minnesota?

Miami has had a lot of seasons right around .500 in the last 20 or so years in the ACC. What makes it not comparable in your mind? You don't think MSU is a comparable program?

Miami has top 5 NIL. Cam Ward was one of the highest paid players in the country this season and will be the #1 pick in the NFL draft. They have also won a national title in the last 24 years. They are not comparable.

Michigan St also has more money, 3 B1G titles, and a 4 team CFP appearance over the last 15 years. Also not comparable.

I'm not going to argue the semantics over using the term 'promotion' or 'raise'. The assistants that left PJ's staff did so to make significantly more money. No one has left to escape his culture. Those assistants knew what they were getting into when they were hired.

Just in terms of recruiting Miami is on a completely different level than MN.

It was between 25-30% of the property value and the house is on the gulf. Needless to say, he self insures it.

And how has that worked out? In the last 10 full seasons (excluding 2020), who has more wins, The U or Miami?
