Michigan fires Moore

PE. Physical Education

Yep, that’s gonna be a problem.

Only on GH would the semantics of a crowdsourced, incentive-driven mechanism for generating probabilistic forecasts of future events be debated 🙄

Not really. You don’t know who’s (or what’s) taken the other side. Kalshi Inc. eg benefits when supposedly walled-off Kalshi Trading wins bets over regular users. Wild West. Caveat emptor, but sports bettors aren’t generally the cautious type. Average joes are at a disadvantage, as always.

Cool AI commercial, bro. Exciting!

I don't think PJ is a good fit for Michigan. His culture for life program building is good here but in Michigan all they what to do is win baby win as they have proved the last 5 years. They don't care if they need to cheat to do it.
Yeah but they also have this delusional “Michigan Man” mythos that they buy into where they believe that the Michigan program is about high character and “doing the right thing”.

You brought it up...did you think people weren't going to comment on how worthless it is?

Co-head coach. Simon’s never been able to elevate himself beyond job sharing the OC role despite our desperate need for a competent play caller.
Simon is a conundrum. He is clearly loyal to PJ. It’s either that PJ absolutely won’t have an OC that is not coaching the quarterbacks or Simon doesn’t want the OC job all to himself

This will fix everything...

I don't know what they would find.

It seems plausible to me that nobody in the administration or the snoopy local media seemed to know this guy was in a relationship (two consenting adults) until things went horribly bad.

It isn't like Moore was some super coach that the administration would line up to defend...

I wonder if a connection with David Shaw might make sense if they strike out with big name coaches currently with other programs. Had a great run at Stanford. Curious what he might be able to do with Michigan's resources. Currently passing game coordinator with the Lions, so he may be done with the college game, but by all accounts a fine man and leader, which should be an equally important part of the equation at this point for Michigan's administration.
Nice sleeper pick.

David Shaw would be like the steroid version of the Pat Fitzgerald hire
Just without Fitz’s baggage, which Michigan absolutely can’t have with their next hire. Shaw may not ultimately be what they want as an X’s and O’s coach, but he’s clean.

At some point Michigan’s pretensions of being a Midwestern Ivy may collide with the successive athletic scandals. It could force a reckoning in Ann Arbor.
The two have nothing to do with each other. Professors in colleges/universities around the world have propogated sexual scandals by having sex with their students. It doesn't take away from the excellence of education at the school. It does show that sexual misconduct can happen anywhere.

What academic failure have you found at the University of Michigan?

Found the wolverine.

Not sure I would want to be the next coach at Michigan......whoever comes in next will be under a microscope with all the things that have happened over the past few seasons.

Let someone else come in to be the pallet cleanser and then take over for that person. Kind of like what happened at Ohio State when Fickell got his one year stint in charge and managed to find a way to finish under .500 at Ohio State which takes some real skill.

PE. Physical Education
You got it right. It's Physical Education! The last semester of my senior year at the Harvard of Minneapolis located just south of Riverside Avenue, my primary goal was keeping my blood alcohol level at or above the legal limit. I had finished all the requirements of the major I never really used and so I just filled out my dance card with some odd classes (a strategy that backfired to some extent when I applied to several graduate programs, but somehow I got into a solid Master's degree program that worked out well for me).

With that in mind, I took The History and Principles of Physical Education that was taught by the football coach. The class was largely composed of Health and Physical Education majors and a few students working toward a coaching certificate to go along with their teaching degree. The football coach was adamant that the term "Physical Education" was the only proper term to describe the academic subject. He would remind the class "It's not PE. It's not Phys. Ed. It's not gym. It's not recess. It's PHYSICAL EDUCATION!"

I'll do it.... pay is good.

So will just about anyone.

Oh I have no doubt they will have plenty of interested people. But a high profile guy with a good situation already might think twice. DeBour at Alabama for example.

I mean ... when was the last time someone left Alabama to go somewhere else by their own choice?

University conducts investigation on itself, finds itself innocent🙄
I actually think it might end up with the AD being canned.

Universities are not like corporations. These internal investigations often lead to some axes being grinded.

I'll say this, I'm with you that there is ZERO chance they find the issue to be one that extended beyond the Athletic Department. That said, I wouldn't be shocked, at all, if this investigation leads to some heads rolling within that department.

The crazy thing about this and I have no sympathy for him, but this was actually Kiffin at USC.
