Michigan fires Moore

There’s a lot to unpack there…

Just a few thoughts/questions on this situation:

1. It appears she became pregnant was forced to have an abortion.
2. She received a large raise around what seems to be the same time period
3. What did the university know when approving that raise?
4. Did Moore and the University collude to keep her quiet and was the pay increase some sort of pay off?
5. Was her employment threatened at any point in time if she did not comply?

Could be very messy indeed.

He actually did a great job rebuilding what was a really bad Arizona program at the time after Kevin Sumlin left a mess behind. Not a lot of data to go off at UW but he had a nice 8 win season there this year. Gopher fans understandably have a jaded view of the guy but he is pretty well respected from what I understand.

If they do hire him, PJ Fleck will be on all the experts' Washington short list. Sigh.

Maybe people are clouded by tennis balls and throwing motions, but the guy got his first HC job 5 years ago and after 3 seasons and a 10-3 record he moved to Washington.

He was an assistant for 20 years before getting a HC opportunity. He's not even 50 years old.

Feel bad for eastern Michigan and the death penalty they’re about to receive on Michigan’s behalf

What's to get?
As noted above he has a lot of pro and college experience, and has been a pretty good major university head coach. His recruiting at Arizona was incredible.

No he won’t. (Sorry misread this). Maybe he will.

And if it comes to that, I think Washington has NO CHOICE but to hire PJ

Why Jedd Fisch? He had one good year at Arizona but has a losing record as a head coach.

Only has one year ten years ago with the program, among the vast number of jobs he’s held. Not really a midwest guy either.

I guess people see that he’s held a job for almost 2 years and must be itching to move.

Death penalty sanctions for Michigan football program. It's the only way to be sure.

Fisch's year with Brewster was his first job as a coordinator (in a program that was starting to teeter). It came after Brewster moved on from Dunbar and a "basketball on grass" offense so Fisch wasn't really set up for success out of the gate as the personnel in-house didn't really fit the change. Is that Fisch's fault? I have no idea.

I think Fisch gets criticized because he wanted the quarterbacks to throw baseballs as part of their training. It seems odd, but when you think that former major league pitching coach and pitching guru Tom House (who caught Hank Aaron's record-breaking home run) had his pitchers work out throwing a football, there's probably something in a kinesiology textbook that doesn't dismiss the notion as total idiocy.

That said, he doesn't seem like a Michigan hire.

It seems more and more like a lot of people around the program knew of it for awhile. The assistant got a big raise and I'm sure it was to try to cover up some of it.

There’s definitely something there. Not many administrative assistants see a 55% pay increase in 1 year.

That increase makes it harder for me to believe that Michigan did not know which probably leaves them exposed if she tries to file a suit.

I think they can be released from their NLI if there's a coaching change, right? I thought we were in on some Iowa St. commit because Campbell left.

I think they stopped signing NLIs in favor of Aid Agreements.

I would be the University would want any further negative press and would be more than happy to oblige a recruit wanting to released.

Yep, they can, and MI is doing that. A kid here in Billings signed, was released yesterday, and signed with TT today
 

Whittingham stepping down from Utah. Might be a name to watch for Michigan.
