Mara Braun Watch Continues -- Return from Redshirt Injury Season

Not sure, but I think she may be eligible second semester since she didn’t play for the Gophers this season. Oregon has been listing Heyer as Out on the game availability report, which wouldn’t make sense if she is not eligible. Can’t be Out if you’re not eligible.
The Oregon announcement said she won't play until next season

I understand that Heyer's plan was to sit out this year. I was just suggesting that she might be eligible to play second semester, if she had wanted to. When Sophie Hart transferred mid-year, it was emphasized that she was ineligible because you can't play for 2 teams in one season. But mid-year transfers who didn't play the first semester are eligible, I think. South Carolina, for example, has a new player this semester from France. Of course, coming from France and another school is not the exact same thing, but Heyer didn't suit up a game for the Gophers this season.

The rules with the transfer window now is that you have to transfer within the window to be eligible for any part of the following season. Because she did so well after that window closed she is not eligible until next season. And you would list someone on your roster as OUT if they are on the roster but not eligible to play.... because they are OUT (due to ineligibility).

The Oregon coach quote about her on her official page talks about how she will help the team "next season".

Good points. But I’m still a little uncertain. Big Ten availability reports have three categories: “Out for Season”, “Out” and “Questionable”. Oregon has been listing Heyer as “Out” rather than “Out for Season.” By your logic, shouldn’t she be listed as “Out for Season”? Her being listed as "Out" is what got me to thinking in the first place that she might be eligible, even though she was going to sit out.

Could it be they decided not to play her for the second half of this year and lose a whole year of eligibility. Giving her more than a year to mesh with the new team.
How does the scholarship work? Is she under scholarship for this year and next year?

She is going to Oregon for management grad school and NIL. She enrolled at Oregon this January. She graduated from Minnesota in December. She is not playing this season. She will graduate in late 2026, possibly early 2027, not sure.

She was outside a transfer window, making her declaration 13 days before the start of the season.

It is possible the phrase used is irrelevant or reflects she practices with the team but will not play until next season. She is redshirting this season.

Not related to anything else I wrote, I am really unhappy to not be seeing Heyer of Chaska playing for Minnesota this season.

Also unhappy to mysterioisly see her 3 point shooting % plunge last season, although her field goal percentage was .428.

Dang you Minnesota.

One other variable, is Braun depressed to see her friend get the shaft and leave, wonder what those long road trips would be like with Heyer along just kidding.

So Heyer got the shaft? More likely she gave the shaft to her Gopher teammates.
