I’m surprised that people are surprised.
If the coaches really had this conversation I respect the honesty, but I have a hard time believing this is what happened.Irving is a better complementary back and Thomas is a better primary back. With the other 3, probably the conversation with Thomas was…you’re probably 4th if those guys are healthy.
Probably the conversation with Irving was…even if everyone is back there are still ways we can get you on the field
This happens all the time. You talk to players about their role. And if you blow smoke up your players’ asses your program falls apart long termIf the coaches really had this conversation I respect the honesty, but I have a hard time believing this is what happened.
I’m surprised. We don’t know if Mo and Trey are can make a complete recovery so there was a good chance Ky would be in the 1-2 mix.
I wish him the best and hope he finds what he’s looking for.
If Mo doesn't return to form, that would be a reason to stay. And it's not like our O-line will suddenly be awful. We'll still be one of the top rushing teams in power 5, IMO.I really doubt that Mo is going to return to form next year (hope I'm wrong but history is not kind to runners with injured achilles) and MN without its offensive line will not be nearly as dominant running the ball. I might to rush to get out of that room if I were these guys.
Assuming Mo and Potts are healthy with Irving running back will be the least of our problems. I also think the kid from Texas (Evans) is going to be a stud. There are only so many carries and I think Thomas sees that.
Who knows? Maybe he follows Sanford to Colorado and becomes their featured back.I wouldn't be surprised to see him land somewhere in the Big 12 since he's a Kansas kid. Someplace like Oklahoma St would make a lot of sense.
I don't think they sit every player down this time of year and explain what their role will be next year and where they are on the depth chart exactly. Unless they WANT the player to leave. Some coaches likely do lie, but I'm guessing the majority stay in a grey area and don't go into super fine detail about the situation. It's not necessarily lying as they might not know themselves how the depth chart will look at this point. This happens all the time. You talk to players about their role. Do you think coaches don’t meet with players? Or do you think they tell players whatever they want to hear? Short term that might be better but long term not sustainable
If closer to home, that's Ames, Lawrence, Manhattan, Columbia and Lincoln territory. If I am either of his hometown schools I am working hard to get him. He would make an instant impact at either (and both are pretty good coaches IMO)
I state putting together a big ten west all star team
Any coach who is good at all will have a sit down at the end of every season. I'm not surprised one bit. It's a different era and kids believe they deserve their due when they perform. We don't know what's going on in this guys life. Perhaps he wants to play one more year and go pro? He wouldn't get the carries to showcase his ability if that is the case. Either way, the guy wants to be #1 and with Mo coming back, that just wasn't in the cards.I'm surprised, he would get carries next year, and a ton of carries in two years. If it's based on playing time I'm shocked at the lack of patience, but could be other factors in play. We always jump to playing time.
They aren't making the depth chart for next fall in December or January.Any coach who is good at all will have a sit down at the end of every season. Many high school programs even do that

All we can go by is that he said he will be back in 2022. I haven't seen anything else.Has it ever been said, what exactly was Pott’s injury?
people have said it was a danger to be career ending, but it sure doesn’t seem to fit in terms of what one typically sees in football injuries. Head injury? Brain injury? Internal organs? Vascular?
