Hype may propel him to starting. Continuing to play/start sporting a sub-60 PFF, suspect. Not when they have options and could care less if he pouts and jumps ship. They are probably banking they can unlock the 2024 version and hoping to avoid the 2025 version. My guess is he will level out somewhere in between. Does that justify whatever money and perks he got? I have no idea, and I really don't care anymore. He's gone, it looks like we spent the money he would have consumed on upgraded resources at key positions and possibly jettisoned a locker room prima donna.

I get why Oregon took Raiola, he does have a special arm talent. But there are a lot of issues too. When is the last time he played somewhere that he wasn't coddled? He doesn't seem to play that well when faced with adversity and he holds onto the ball way too long.

At time, it felt like Raiola was bigger than the Nebraska program. He's not bigger than Oregon. They have Akili Smith's kid chomping at the bit and if Raiola has a game where he takes 5 sacks when he should have taken 1, he'll have competition.

It's probably good for him to go somewhere less incubated and the upside is through the roof for both the Ducks and Raiola, but I do think there is some chance - 25-40% that this goes sideways for him.

I do think the increased team competition will be good for both Raiola and Perich, either they will reach their potential, or move on in a different life path. I think both may have been somewhat over marketed at Neb. and Minn. Probably can just be football players at Oregon.
 


Some people are bus drivers that naturally work to take the group to a new higher destination (e.g., Carter Coughlin and Mo Ibrahim come to mind - Drake Lindsey showing real promise) but most are bus riders. It's a disappointment when you have belief in someone as a driver that turns out to be just a rider. It happens all the time.

Raiola had too much expectations early on for the supporting cast around him, I think. It may have led to him trying to “make stuff happen” too much in addition to his possible Mahomes emulation complex. If he just tries to develop as a QB at Oregon within their offense, he may really break out. Dante Moore had pretty mediocre stats before transferring to UO.

By the way it’s kind of interesting that 2/4 of the semifinals QBs were from Michigan hometowns yet UMich and MSU totally missed out on them. Not to mention MSU also had Sam Leavitt and Katin Houser on the roster and look where MSU went after they left.

Koi Perich, the figure, is a bigger loss than Koi Perich, the player. He was the face of the program. I have never seen more jerseys of a single player in the 21 years I have had season tickets than I have of Koi Perich. His loss brings much more emotion than Ky Thomas leaving to Kansas. I hope he has a long and happy life but I also wouldn't be heartbroken if his football career continues the trend we saw from his freshman year to his sophomore year.

2 yrs of busting your ass is good enough for me. Others consider Brosmer an M man for a single season.
 



I think a lot of people are underestimating Raiola. I would be willing to bet he has a very good showing at Oregon. His stats before getting hurt at Nebraska were very good and he was not playing with nearly of offensive talent he will have now.
 


This will further blow the collective minds of the Nebraska faithful that we are equally feeder programs for Team Nike.

I don't know enough about Oregon's defensive scheme to have any idea how they will use him. He's extremely athletic and if they have a safety who plays "center field" in football terms, that would probably be Perich's best position. It's funny how it works. Kill played his safeties extremely "up" in the defensive set and Fleck has backed them off some. Different players fit different schemes (duh!) and I don't think Oregon would put this much effort into landing Perich if they were just throwing stuff at the wall.
 



Repeating my opinion when the news that he was leaving came out: it's primarily because he wants a shot at the playoffs.
 

WTF is going on in this thread right now....this thread is about taxes and tax implications.....why are we wasting time on posts about Perich? Come on people....get it together :)
