kirksey tweets about call from coach

He said it was a high school coach that called him, not a member of the Gopher staff.

Good to know some of you think that carping a little and incorporating some BEV in an absolutely informal setting is worthy of getting kicked off the team, though. Jesus this site is unreal sometimes.

What he said

What an embarrassment. This guy is a captain? Oh, and I guess because he's African-American he can throw the N-word around and nobody cares but if someone like Weber were to do so it would be front page news on every website and Weber would be have to move to the same remote island with Steve Bartman.

Ok, I probably don't always agree with you Art. But this is good! I'm only a tiny bit worried you might come back say it was intended to be sarcasm.

He has future at the Star Tribune with his writing skills. Perhaps we have stumbled on Sids replacement.

You were never upset when corrected? You don't gripe to your wife after your boss comes down on you at work? Life as a saint must be nice.

You get upset and then swallow that upset, and use the anger as motivation to fix what's wrong. That's what a winner does.

Oh, and most saints are martyrs. That isn't nice at all. ;)

U crackaz jus dont know what it iz to get bitch niggaz snitchin on ya, ya heard?!

hey kaliq, see any code words in here?

I sure hope nobody seriously takes my comment that way, but shame on me if they do. My point is this: Young mister Kirksey demeans himself with the Tweet he made, both by rejecting his coach's correction (whatever it was) and by lashing out at the "snitch."

I mentioned Popeye's because it's a demeaning job at a fast foot place, Popeye's is very popular in SlooMizzou, and in my experience, the food there is awful. Really awful. And still, people get fired from awful fast food joints if they can't take correction from their boss.

Dumbassity is unlimited in this world.

Dumbassity among youth is particularly without limit.

Dumbassity among youthful spoiled athletes is unlimited by scope and limited only by imagination and bad taste!

I'm really learning a lot about some of the posters on this board from this thread...what year is it again??

Probably Art's best post ever. By a long shot.

A Twitter ban would do wonders.

I wouldn't ban it, but I would certainly remind the kids that it is monitored and that they will be held responsible for anything posted. My guess is that Kill will have some sort of response to the stupidity Kirksey displayed. If he is looking to send a message, this is a pretty easy way to do it.

Art finally made an excellent point. I don't know how old you are Art, but I am old enough and been through enough in my life to know that all youngsters say and do stupid things. The difference is, WE tried to hide from the public that stupidity, but today's kids make it public. That, in and of itself, is stupid.

Good comment Art. Thank you. Doc.

Seriously? Art does not understand that there are different rules for different people regarding that word, and is lauded as if he just made the most profound observation at the Algonquin Round Table.

I don't know here. I thought the "N" word was verbotten, but I still hear those "N" jokes and us Norwegians love the attention.

Didn't he say he disliked work outs earlier in the year? He rarely seems to break through the line in passing downs. Sounds like he has a little off season work to stay out of the dog house.

It would be great if you actually processed what I wrote rather than spouting off. However, sometimes you can't see the whole picture when you are looking down your nose.

1. I specifically said the tweet was stupid. No other way to slice it.
2. If you really expect kids to not be upset when called out by a coach, then you are dreaming. On the field, that anger is part of what drives them and part of the reason that coaches do it. If you don't understand that, then it is clear that you have never played the game at a high level or coached at all.
3. I ask again: you don't vent when your wife asks you how your day was after a tough one? I'm not saying hit her, just gripe. If so, you are a fantastic company man who I would love to hire. Your wife must be a happy woman as well.
4. No justification. Just understanding. It is obvious that you have never worked with kids.

1. Didn't see that, but I agree.
2. Never said he shouldn't have been mad. I said I didn't like his attitude.
3. Does it matter? I never mentioned anything about hitting one's wife, so don't know where you got that idea.. My point was you made a poor comparison. Twitter =/= one's wife.
4. From the looks of it, very much looks like justification. I'm the oldest of 6 and I helped raise my two youngest sisters. I know more about kids than people that work with them do. Kirksey's self-minded attitude needs some serious adjusting. And if I'm misunderstanding the tweet which is very much possible, he still needs to learn how to control his emotions. That type of person is far from being any sort of leader.

Get off your high horse and quit thinking you are better than people because you are old.

I hope someone on Kill's staff...

...reads these boards to gauge the outrage and disgust of mainstream fans at crap like Kirksey's tweet. They can't turn a guy like this into a human being if he doesn't want to be one, but they can sure as heck make him behave like one. I hope they jump all over him--see what he's made of. If he's the "man" I think he is, he'll be gone.

Tweeting isn't stupid, it's just a method of communication. Stupid tweets are stupid though. If you wouldn't want it included in your biography, maybe you don't want to tweet it. Or put it any place it can come back. People treat tweeting like talking, but speech goes away after it is spoken.

I know there are different rules regarding using that word - that's part of the problem if you ask me. Regardless, it's embarrassing to the U and the football program when a captain acts like this and also drops an F-bomb "publicly".

Tell me about the different rules for different people? Wasn't the Civil Rights movement about equality?
