Can't make this stuff up. Completely innocent tweet and Barreiro and PA get their feelings hurt.

Here are there responses:

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p><a href="https://twitter.com/GopherSports">@GopherSports</a> how long have u been sitting on that tweet? 51 years? <a href="https://twitter.com/search?q=%23SkiUMah&src=hash">#SkiUMah</a></p>— Paul Allen (@PAKFANVikes) <a href="https://twitter.com/PAKFANVikes/statuses/397131628234813440">November 3, 2013</a></blockquote>

As a fan of both teams I would have to say the Vikings have also been irrelevant. The NFL is about titles. The Vikings have zero titles. I thought they were going to blow it and win today. They need to go 1-15 and clean house. The Gophers may have been irrelevant but at least they have a glorious past and a bright future.

Go Gophers !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gopher fans laughing at the media for being sensitive? Now that is the stuff you can't make up.

I don't mind it because I don't give a **** about the Vikings, but it's definitely a bit of a shot at the Vikings, which is interesting given the TCF Stadium deal.

If the situation was reversed there would definitely be some pissy people on here.

He needs some talking points and he is desperate for material that is all.

KFAN is also the WPN (Wilf Propaganda Network).

They are very quick to defend the Purple in the face of anything that might criticize the Vikings.

I feel confident saying, "follow the money" and you will see why some KFAN personalities defend the Vikings at all costs. Though, to be honest, the tweet by the Gophers was probably not the type of thing that is needed. Celebrate your success, not the failure of someone else when you're the official twitter account for a program.

PA has always been a big cry baby. If it was the other way around, neither one of these dooshes would have cared.

And remember, these guys work at a station that is the flagship of the Gophers as well. Criticism is one thing, acting like I did when I was 12 is another.

By the way, this is not even close to the first time the Gophers have been more successful than the Vikings in 51 years so, besides being childish, his comment makes no sense.

And this is coming from someone who has been a big Vikings fan for longer than the Gophers.

BTW PA when have the Vikings won any championships in the last 51 years?

Guys like PA takes shots like this to the Gophers constantly. One goes the other way and he acts like a child.

Minor burn by the Gophers. They should have just ignored it. But the irony of GH'ers calling anyone out for being sensitive is amazing.

My wife and I watched the Little Darlings lose at Silver Rapids Lodge on White Iron Lake in Ely. We came in with about a buck forty left and saw Dallas get the winning score. The few Viking fans that were there were more concerned about the spread, which they beat. One guy said: " Is the replay of the Gopher game on yet"? I chuckled at that

Why would PA & Barreiro get worked up over that? Seems like a innocent mistake, mountain out of molehill.

This seems like such a strange tactic. There must be some history here to prompt this kind of initial tweet. Seems so unnecessary. If you're trying to sell tickets, I would think there would be much better ways to do it.

PA has put ALL of his eggs in one basket - the Viking basket. It's the only team in town that he cares about or follows or can talk about semi-intelligently. When the Vikings suck, there goes his schtick because nobody cares about them right now.

If he actually followed the other teams and could speak about them intelligently it would be a different story.

The U isn't charging them enough for rent. I'd also like to see the scoreboard screen only show Gopher highlights during the Vikings' games. The entire thing should be a Gopher football advertisement

Now that I agree with, kelly.

GO GOPHERS!!!

I am so out of the loop that I had no idea that Twitter was around 51 years ago.

burrito is pissed because he is an indiana grad.

Why don't they go after Meatsauce for his anti-Vike tweets?

They sent an apology tweet already and said, they root for all MN teams.

No more ironic than media members that criticize Gopher fans for being overly sensitive, turning around and acting the same way when their team is being the made the subject of fun. Barriero just saw an opportunity for a clever (in his eyes) shot, and for a guy like PA who almost seems proud of his lack of education I wasn't surprised by his childish response.

Now THAT'S a stretch. :D

Heard a few minutes of his show this morning. He was pretty complimentary of the Gophers play Saturday. Guessing all the "tweet wars" are just to generate reaction.

I'm always amazed at the number of Minnesotans who seem to take such pleasure in seeing Minnesota teams lose. It's like a contest to see who can write the most negative thing on twitter in the most creative way.
It always seems people have been negative so long that they are emotionally invested in seeing the teams lose. If the Gophers win, then everything they've said for years would be wrong.

What do you expect from a state who's fan bases are proud to call their home Loserville? Minnesota has a huge loser mentality that has gotten really tiresome.

You two got that right. There's a whole cult of people out there who spend most of their time worrying that somebody somewhere is having fun and if they could stop it they certainly would.

This is the part that a lot of these guys fail to acknowledge. The differences between where the Gophers have been and where the Vikings have been aren't all that different at all. In fact, the trajectories are remarkably similar.

I'm mad because these numbskulls are the first to trash anything bad gopher related when we are having a bad year. And, really, they shouldn't be offended by a harmless tweet, they should be offended with the Vikings awful play.
